Four year old missing a week of school

Hi there,

Could anyone tell me what the law is regarding a four year old missing one week of school please?

She starts school this Autumn, but we have just realised we need to make a trip abroad in the middle of the first term.

You should be fine. She is not legally obliged to be in full time education until her 5th birthday. Some schools are are more relaxed than others. We have the same issue and spoke to the school our son is due to start in September.They were very reassuring and reasonable about it.

Our 4 year old also missed a week of reception. The school wasnt thrilled but there were no repercussions. As Midivydale said, the law begins at age 5. Get those cheaper holidays in while you can.
