verds
Would anyone be up for a morning run in Dulwich Park a couple of times a week?I used to do Prambusters (which is great, by the way!) but it doesn't fit in with the morning nap now.So now I'm running at 9am, but I keep finding excuses to have a rest. Wondered if anyone else would be up for a run with a buggy around that time of day - I need some motivation!I'm not one of those sporty types, and I'm pushing a 14 month old so I do go at a slow pace - but I'd be less likely to keep stopping if there was anyone else there. snowboarder
Oh I would really like to...but we are still having a 9am nap! I'll give you a shout when he drops it (14 months too so I can't believe it will go on much longer). verds
I like the fact that they still love an early snooze at this age! We sometimes even drag ourselves out a bit earlier in the summer - 8.30ish - as we're not fans of hot weather. linzkg
Verds - you go gal! Ps, there's a pramathon of sorts coming up, I must remember to send you the email as hopefully it'll give you something to train towards. I'm keen to do a bit of walk-I-mean-jogging (as hoping I'm coming to the end of SPD) and find the mircolite quite manageable. The Nappy Lady
Most Thursdays I drop the little one off at the childminders and then run a lap of Peckham Rye Park (inside park) which is a mile, then do a bit on the open air gym. About ready to increase distance now but do have to shoot off to work after so can't spare too much time - tending to do more evenings and weekends.I set off about 9.15/9.20 from the gate on Colyton Rd and have the dog with me, but she can be on lead if need be (used to buggys and tends to ignore them anyway). If anyone wants to join feel free. I'm not a 'natural runner' and would describe what as I do as slow but steady - have got so I don't have to stop and walk any more which is something! You can text me on 07977 130318.M Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/11555-any-mums-up-for-a-run-with-babies/#findComment-328325 Share on other sites
deirdre
Hiya, once my baby's head is more stable (he's 6 weeks old - anyone know when i can start running with him?) i'd love to join. Do they sleep during runs? Can i aim for a run during a nap time? verds
Oh yes, I used to always wheel mine to sleep at that age - if only I'd read the books that tell you not to get into the habit of doing that! But usually the motion sets them off snoozing. Someone less amateur than me will probably have better advice on running with a pram. When we did Prambusters, Oriane who runs the class would always warn us to watch out for kids on bikes and dogs - and of course strap your baby in! And some of the pram wheels do wobble if you get some real speed up. Not that I do! Oh, and be gentle with yourself, so stop if it brings on bleeding. (oof, sorry to be graphic, but I didn't have a clue about all that when my baby was born.) Which park did you do prambusters in- maybe I could start with that?? verds
Thanks for your replies - I feel more motivated already!Nappy Lady: I'm working this Thurs but will certainly join you another week.Count: I'd definitely recommend trying Prambusters. I used to go on a Weds at 10.30 in Dulwich Park. It's a good way to start as you run for 100 metres at first, then build up when you get fitter. The exercises are good too, and it's very friendly. jac428
Powerpramming is also good. They meet in Peckham Rye park next to the cafe on Mondays just before 12.30. I am back at work, otherwise I would join you Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/11555-any-mums-up-for-a-run-with-babies/#findComment-328629 Share on other sites

Just back from seeing my mom and went to gym classes with her all week so I'm keen to get going now! Can we leave the lead on and tie it to the buggy and he can drag S along instead?
