snowboarder
I saw this yesterday and nearly posted. As with most baby related things these days it nearly made me cry. Awful. sophiesofa
What baffles me is how no-one nearby on the beach said anything/intervened earlier but thank goodness the police community support officers did step in. I hope the baby makes a prompt recovery and the mother learns from her huge mistake. woofmarkthedog
I think....two foreign students told the woman in a near by shop, she then called beach patrolAlso, seems the 29 year old parent had been drinking alcohol on the beachW**F Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/11494-baby-burnt-on-brighton-beach-seriously-injured/#findComment-327133 Share on other sites
cate
I saw a man pushing a child approximately 12 months in a buggy over the weekend up by the library. It was in full sun, at lunchtime. The cover was pushed back and the child didn't have a hat or long sleeved clothes on. It made me cringe. This was at lunchtime. I am also pretty sure you aren't legally allowed to be in charge of a child while drunk. sophiesofa
thanks woof - well done to the students and the shopkeeper (not that they'll see this).I suppose it must be hard to police the line between tipsy and so drunk you're not in control. sillywoman
The Indie today says that a group of women were arguing with the Mother on the beach - they were saying the baby needed medical attention, she wanted to stay on the beach. One of them contacted the Police. Mum was on a day trip from Plumstead. She's 29 though, so you'd have thought old enough to have some common sense?Poor little baby. :( Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/11494-baby-burnt-on-brighton-beach-seriously-injured/#findComment-327174 Share on other sites
GinaG3
sillyowman - I read this also. Apparently she just covered the baby in a blanket and told them to mind their own business... It is totally sickening, I hate reading stories like this. Why let your baby come to harm? No matter what age you are you should have common sense when it comes to sun and children, it can be so dangerous!! I say - lie her on the beach all day in blistering sun shackled down till she gets toasted!BTW, the baby has now been released from hospital, the doctors have said there could be a risk of blistering though, which could mean the baby is not quite safe yet, as it could lose a lot of bodily fluid. But I hope he gets better soon, and the mother screws her head on properly. This incident is being investigated by police! ryedalema
That's so so sad...it's not like the little mite either knew what was happening to it, or could do anything about it.Truly helpless..
