So I'm thinking of 'investing' in some silk bedding, the whole monty.. Silk duvet, silk (filled) pillows, silk bed linen...the proper expensive stuff, not cheap satin nonsense!

Anyone out there have any experience with this?

how practical is it?

Are the claims of 'keeps you cool in summer, and warm in winter' over exagerated?

And does it feel good to sleep in silk?

I had a silk filled duvet once. It was OK. The moths really liked it though. I still used a 100% cotton sheet underneath it. I never bought silk sheets as I don't like that feel. I like Egyptian cotton sheets. You don't need to pay to get 400/ 500 thread count. It doesn't mean that they are 'better' because of that. I believe that silk pillow cases are supposed to be good for keeping hair styles in check if you are worried about that sort of thing.

It stains...

well, sweat & water marks it.

Think of it as a covering for your stage ( are we on the right track here..? )

"Perform & Launder" if that's your "thang"

I had a "go" in a set once & as I lay there I couldn't help thinking

"I know how an After-Eight mint feels now "

All "slightly" trapped in a shiny black wrapper

Ewwww....

Think it's the kind of wrinkles you get upon awakening, like face creases, not long term wrinkles.

I also prefer down filled pillows as you can punch them around to get comfortable. Ditto duvets, although in the summer just use a light blanket. There are some very good synthetic duvets around now which you can wash at 60 degrees and are as light as down. The Fine Bedding Company make a version. I have a single 9 tog one to use on the sofa. The White Company make nice cotton sheets and quite often have sales. The also do mail order. I really wouldn't bother with silk bedding.

Woo yourself, metrosexual-man - it's what Cate said. You can't scrunch your face up on them as you slip right off.

Hmm, it might prove tricky to gain purchase in the throes of passion too though.

Yeah well I KNOW that, but I was commenting for someone else.

Life is way too short to clean chrome, hence I have a filthy motorcycle.

If I were on the hunt - sorry, - looking for a new partner - and I walked into his bedroom and found silk sheets I'd think it 70s cheesy - if I saw Egyptian Cotton bedding, and ironed, I'd be well impressed.

Handcuffs on the bedposts - now that's another subject.

My mother swears by her 100% silk pillows. My sister sells them so everyone gets them for christmas & birthdays. My mother is now always banging on about how her skin is amazing (it was already - but this must be super amazing) and her hair is immaculate in the morning. I am next on the list for these. :-) I WANT IT NOW!

"This exquisite mulberry silk pillowcase is the ultimate luxury. A superb anti wrinkle skin care product, a silk pillowcase will help to delay the signs of aging. Unlike traditional cotton pillowcases which draw moisture from your face and hair as you sleep, silk will allow your skin to retain its natural moisture.

Silk is naturally hypo-allergenic and therefore perfect for allergy sufferers, and is also beneficial to those who suffer aches and pains, itchy skin such as rosacea and eczema and may aid blood circulation and digestion when sleeping.

Made from 100% 19 momme Finest and Seamless Mulberry silk it has a 400 thread count creating a wonderfully soft and perfectly smooth pillowcase which drapes beautifully.

Before purchasing a silk pillowcase it is vital to check the momme weight of the silk linen. ‘Momme’ is the unit used to grade the quality of silk. Those graded between 12 – 19 are considered to be of a high quality and silk in the range of 16 – 19 extremely high quality. This pillowcase is graded as 19 momme which is the smoothest, creamiest and shiniest type of silk."

    • I hope this message finds you well. I am reaching out to kindly ask for your assistance regarding a car break-in that occurred today, around 2 PM, on Carson Road. A couple of bags (both khaki in color), a luggage, and a passport were stolen. The bags, in particular, hold significant sentimental value to me, and I would greatly appreciate any help in locating them. I am due to take a long-haul flight in two days, and any information regarding the whereabouts of these items would be incredibly helpful. If anyone has seen or come across these belongings, please feel free to reach out. Thank you in advance for your attention and support. Warm regards, Tanya
