black cabs, you just push your buggy into the back and put on brake, easiest thing ever, and, the only way I would travel if I had bottomless pockets. Do you have your own car seat? If not would have to request they send a mini cab with one, do so in advance as might not be easy x

I think it's legal to go in a minicab without a carseat - not that it would be my choice to travel without a carseat, but useful to know in case you need to for any reason. Or perhaps take baby in a sling?

We requested a carseat for a trip to the airport and car arrived without one, despite my double-checking the day before and being assured we would get one. Too late then to call a new cab, so we used our own and insisted the driver return it to our house which he did.

I've used this service before and they have always shown up with the requested seat. Sometimes instead of sending a car with a seat they send a minivan that has one of those built in child seats. And sometimes when they send the car seat it's not installed and the driver doesn't know how to do it. It really depends on which driver you get.

Addison Lee have seats built into some cars (you have to request them) but only for 1yr and up. I think in a black cab you can in theory strap buggy into disabled bit though admit have not done it myself. Where are you going? Just wondering if it's somewhere where having car seat might be handy since your baby is still quite wee. I guess this is where travel systems come into their own...never had one but was quite jealous when realised it was easier in terms of cars/cabs.

I find that's it's fairly easy to get a seat for an older baby - ie forward facing, but impossible to get a rear facing baby seat. Having said that, most of the cabs I have taken with my children have turned up with the most unsafe looking contraptions imaginable

Do you have a baby seat that fits onto your pram? If not you'll either have to take it with you I'm afraid

    • This is NEXT WEDNESDAY 11 June! Just turn up if you prefer not to give prior notice! The Palmerston from  7pm, turn left as you come in! (If you have been hiding under a rock, The Palmerston is the pub on Lordship Lane on the corner of North Cross Road).
    • Yes, at first I assumed that the bin men had taken flowering plants from my front garden while getting at my brown food bin, instead of reaching over the wall. I was very confused as I couldn't see any obvious gaps. Surely taking Toadflax from a resident's wall is not part of the council's remit? What next, are they going to come round and trim hedges in front gardens? 🤬
    • Oh, so that was the council.  Someone ripped some lovely flowering Toadflax from our wall and threw it in the gutter.  I assumed that a child had done it.  How strange?
