It's only been 36 hours.. The economy is always up and down. Do you not remember 2008 ?

The Union breaks up.. That's good. Everyone can just get on trading together without Brussels interfering..

Look at the positive side for the future.. Look what can now be acheived. Come on.. you know me.

It's not often I feel so positive about anything..

This has to be one of the more fatuous remarks I've seen on this topic. Do you know how many people lost their jobs and had their lives adversly changed by the 2008 crash? Do you not get that this has the potential to be worse? My colleagues are already losing their jobs.

FFS.

Hi Louisa, it is very sad - you were basically lied to by Boris and Farage about the EU, the 350m and immigration and you voted out on these lies. That is why the petition for a second referendum has been signed by my friend who voted out and now regrets his vote. The general public are not experts or politicians and therefore rely on what they tell us. Some of the public are better informed through education or knowledge of how the EU works and these people tended to vote remain. You have every right to be very angry about the lies you were told.

Angry 48% of the U.K. and angry Brexit voters - time to go to the pub!

Genuinely am quite upset about this whole situation now. Thought I was doing the right thing. Isn't it amazing what 24 hours of reflection can do? Thanks for being understanding everyone. I may sign the petition calling for a second referendum. Or maybe I should just keep my mouth shut from now on.

Louisa.

I am stunned that people who voted for Brexit seemed to think that the Vote Leave campaign was in any position to make any promises. They were not the leaders of the nation and their campaign was not a manifesto. Nigel Farage is not even in the governing party. How people could assume that these random statements could ever be put into practice is beyond me.

That is very brave Louisa and commands huge respect. You are not alone. The most googled term after the result from the UK was 'what is the EU' and 'How does the EU work'.

I think Boris wants a Norway style deal, but he'll wait until he's PM to argue for that. The referendum is not legally binding and he will follow the direction most likely to give the Tories a win in 2020. Mugging off the Farage leave brigade will cost Labour, not him.

So as difficult as this initial phase is going to be, I think he'll take the huge political risk of keeping us in but in the same way that Norway and Switzerland are in. The EU can not refuse us deals on those same terms. And I don't think he'll find it too difficult to get parliament to vote for that.

I'm not sorry I voted out- I loathe politicians and 750 more of them, who don't seem to know what they're doing for the EU public good on many levels, is a very expensive joke. The outies already had 3.9 million UKIP voters in the bag (who only gained 1 seat in the UK... whereas in Scotland an about 1.5 million won the SNP 59 seats)- we are leaving... that's democracy for you...
But are we really leaving Uncle? The country is completely spilt. The Union at risk of breaking up. These are perfect conditions for the man or woman who would be king (as UKIP have shown). Leaving or staying in the EU doesn't hurt the politicians you hate so much. It only hurts us, one way or the other.

    • Might it be more respectful to refrain from asking this on a local forum which his family are on as if it's merely akin to casually asking if anyone has heard what's happening with the empty shop space next to Oliver Bonas or if anyone knows which dentists are taking on new patients? Christ. Google it if you're that interested. They are a real family and this isn't a Reddit discussion on a true crime documentary. Extraordinary
