Zebedee Tring
According to another source, M&S opening date is in August. But until we get something official from M&S, who knows? bonaome
Can't see it opening in July. When the kids from Heber interviewed the builders in December 2015, they were told the build was expected to take 44 weeks and should be finished in July 2016. Andrew Wicks of Southwark planning was also interviewed and said that with store fitting, they were expecting the new store to open before Christmas 2016.M&S still aren't recruiting, though Dulwich is now listed on the M&S website as a new store opening. TheCat
The 'Travelodge' located where the Dog used to be is taking room bookings from late august....https://www.innkeeperslodge.com/london-dulwich/Not sure if that means the associated 'Harvester' opens at the same time.... Cedges
How long has 'Dulwich Leisure Centre' been called this, quite clearly in East Dulwich and a stones throw from Peckham? James Barber
I thought I'd updated people a while back they'd shifted opening to August.Dulwich is rather unfortunate as it isn't a descriptive to location as East Dulwich. But Sainsburys on Dog Kennel Hill claims to be their Dulwich store. I've said this before. but when I moved here in 1980 from Peckham people would ask where have you moved to. I would say Dulwich and they would reply.. No. You live in EAST Dulwich NOT Dulwich.. Now.. People say.. Do you live in EAST Dulwich ?I just say.. I live in EAST Dulwich.. BUT I was Born in PECKHAM..Foxy Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/111602-m-s/#findComment-1015509 Share on other sites
Mick Mac
When I moved to East Dulwich people tried to tell me I had moved to Peckham. No shame in that now, it's all cool. I think East Dulwich is no longer the poor relation of Dulwich, such that when people hear Dulwich, they maybe think of East Dulwich.... the popular part. Or perhaps the stores are effectively merging the two areas into one. Let's face it no one has a Dulwich store anyway, there is no street... so LL is I guess Dulwich's main shopping area. LondonMix
I think you are right-- they are marketing to the wider area and loads of Dulwich Village people hang out on LL. There isn;t the same price difference there used to be between the areas either when looking at equal sized properties so its much of a muchness now I suppose.Mick Mac Wrote:-------------------------------------------------------> When I moved to East Dulwich people tried to tell> me I had moved to Peckham. uncleglen
I've always thought that Dulwich was the whole area protected by the Dulwich College Estate rules and regulations as regards buildings and development. Unfortunately, East Dulwich is not protected by any such rules so there are carbuncles (you may call them extensions...) appearing all over the Victorian houses.
