Overloaded with election-related literature?

I am. Y'day, the two of us in my house on G'rich Road had seven pieces of LibDem literature. We had identical letters x 3 then another piece of bumph. When an eight piece dropped through the letterbox even before mid-afternoon, I asked the volunteer to take it back and report back that at least one potential LD voter was cheesed off with the amount of election-related literature. I know they're excited and going all the way, but such a lack of coordination between the national, constituency and local organisers doesn't fill me with confidence. Anyone else been bombarded similarly?

Not just the LibDems, but Labour and the (ironically) the Greens. There's also been one Tory pamphlet, but that seemed like they were just trying to make it looked like they were making some sort of effort, when they've obviously diverted their efforts to other seats. We even have one from an independent candidate this morning, which I would generally describe as 'uninformative'.

I have a brief look before adding them to the recycling pile. Some of the 'we are the only party that can beat the incumbent' stats/graphs are appalling and misleading. Really, it makes them look completely dishonest - and I'd have to say the Greens were the worst at this. (Though the wonderful statistical jiggery-pokery by the Independent to show that if all the non-voters last time came out and voted for her then she'd win was so wonderfully daft I had to smile.)

After this election I'm really going to miss the constant leafleting, phone calls and door-stop visits from the lib dems. I've never felt so popular.

That is one advantage of the boundary changes - now that we have been siphoned off into Peckham and Camberwell constituency we are getting absolutely no leaflets at all as all the energy is being put into Dulwich and West Norwood!

Trying to not let this swing my vote, but there has been a constant barrage of leaflets from the lib dems through our letter box.

On the SE15 side of the park I agree I have had FAR TOO MUCH LibDem leaflet. I am thinking of renaming my letterbox "Recycle here", as the leaflets are going straight in the recycling.

Had a few labour ones, no Tory (why would they!) one Green (utter tosh stuff) and a Workers Socialist Party about which I commented elsewhere.

Who wants my vote then!

Important to also realise that the Lib Dem leaflets contain a direct LIE when they claim that only they can beat Labour in Dulwich and West Norwood.

At the last election the Lib Dems came 2nd with Tories close behind in 3rd. Since then there have been boundary changes which put the Tories in 2nd! I found this out on BBC.co.uk.

Basically both Tories and Lib Dems could beat Labour!!!

I too don't mind political leaflets as long as they don't contain complete porkies. Biggest factual whopper spotted so far came from LDs last week which published the results of polls taken after the second leaders deabate and prominently quoted the scores from the Times as Clegg 49%, Cameron 34% Brown 17%. The actual result of the Times/Populus poll was Cameron 37%, Clegg 36%, Brown 27%. These scores are shown at the end of the attached link (hopefully)- as you can see, none of the polls quoted are anywhere near the LD numbers. Perhaps not so squeaky clean?

Yes! My husband was told (by a member of the lib dem team, at the door) that a vote for conservatives would be a vote for labour and that the conservatives do not stand a chance of winning the Dul & west Nor seat. We assumed that this was true but then similar to Dulwichresident i did some research on the internet and saw that the conservatives could be in the race. the lib dems have done a good job in ED so they already had our vote but they shouldn't mislead us.

my recycling bag is filling up with all of the mail. My bulk is Lib dem and labour.

Hi Nero,

I'm sorry for those that received three items of Lib Dem literature in one day (Saturday).

The three items composed - the free delivery via Royal Mail that all MP and MEP candidates are allowed. Weirdly the Lib Dem arrived 10 days later than requested and booked. Clearly would have been much more helpful to have it very close to when postal ballot papers issued as was planned. Indeed that is around when the labour free delivery delivered.

Lib Dem HQ have noted the great cnavassing returns and believe we can win Dulwich & West Norwood and have organised a paid delivery across the consituency. It was meant to arrive this coming week closer to the election.

Locally we have a delivery plan and taking into account when local volunteers can delivery. Hence local item.

I can't account for why Royal Mail and postal workers have decided to deliver two different election literature meant to arrive on different days arriving on the same day.

I've explained to residents the Lib Dem chances in the following way.

In 2005 Labour received 19,000 votes, Lib Dem 10,250, Tory 9,000.

At that time Lib Dems in the national polls on 19% and we're currently much higher. Labour nationally much lower and Tories roughly the same (from memory). Even with border changes we can expect Labour to get fewer votes. In fact much fewer votes. Lib Dem many many more votes and Tories around the same.

I can assure you that we've only ever printed poll results that are genuine. For my own peace of mind I've double checked with our campaigns manager earlier today (he was'nt happy me being his alarm clock). Clearly many many polls showing ranges of results. All the polls show that Gordon Brown is trailing after the polls and that Nick Clegg's standing has rocketed. The polls also show people believing Nick Clegg can lead real change to our political systems.

The elections are three days away.

Do read the literature to help you decide.

If you want a particular result then do get involved.

Today's Lib Dem mail drop - a fake handwritten letter addressing me as 'dear friend' is the one that has decided me, after weeks of their junk mail, that I'd rather vote for a party that spends more time on issues and less time on waste paper.

Today's Labour mail drop: a large glossy colour leaflet and a fake letter in a window envelope. I *hate* window envelopes (have to tear them apart to recycle the paper part).

James, you present statistics of Lib Dems in second and Tories not standing a chance as fact. Here you say 'we can expect'. You may want to think that is the case, but please don't try to make it the case by misrepresentation. It's just not on - and your party tries to make us think you are different. Shame on you.

Even in this post you have rounded both Labour and Conservatives down by quite a number of votes to make the Lib Dem result look better than it was.

Did anyone get the "polling card" from labour. All you need to do is take the completed card to the polling station All the boxes for the 3 labour councillors and labour MP are all ticked. For a moment I thought it was genuine. I also liked the lib dem letter; handwritten (and then photocopied) letter on blue stationery was a nice change.

Did anyone get a handwritten blue Basildon Bond note from their Lib Dem Candidate? Complete with sp's? Campaign spelled 'campaing' and lots of wrong its and their's?

It doesn't affect who I'll vote for but I'd get a proofreader in if I were them.

At least it's not a glossy full-colour hi-spec job.

We got a blue one today. I also got a similar purpley one from an ex Mayor of Southwark and Lib Dem councillor last week and it is anti Lib Dem and pro Labour. Has anyone else had one of those?
