Keef,

Not every gal can expect to bed a homosexual by the time she is 14 but would you mind if she was doing a spot of crack in the bushes?. I dunno, I wasn't there, just wanted to know a little more from Uzzy before we all jumped down his/her throat with our own little PC prejudices and assumptions.

Acid m'dear, you sound a touch sensitive, I feel like I touched a nerve- but congrats on the "director level job"- whatever that means.

I don't think that my general mirth at your idiocy suggests that I'm sensitive...

I just think that you are a tit, mate. That's all

Sorry if you don't understand. I can't help it if you're thick as well as ignorant. The point I was making is that I consider that I have been reasonably successful due to/in spite of my teenage recreational drug use.

You seem to be of the opinion that minor dabbling in a bit of puff leads to a wasted life.

I'll say it again...

ROTFLMAO!!!

Well, its difficult to demonstrate that in spite of a youth spend ingesting huge amounts of MDMA like I did, you can actually turn out pretty much OK and make a good life for yourself without sounding a touch smug.

First mate or the original poster have offered no support to their Apparently Daily Mail informed opinions of the world. I'd actually go as far as to say that massive quantities of drugs make for more creative people. I'd rather be like Hunter S. Thompson than First Mate.

Also, the use of heroin has a positive that not many people can actually get their heads round.

I grew up in Scotland where poor diet kills four times more than heroin...

One of the advantages of heroin means that you lose your appetite...

Meaning that if you are Scottish, you eat less sh!t...

And hence have less chance of a heart attack or stroke...

And therefore have four times more chance of living a longer life!!!

Great, eh?

Think outside the box people! - especially you First Mate next time you start talking out of your 'arris!...

In fact, the NHS should start prescribing pharmie heroin to school kids at age 12 in the interests of a long life.

Firstly - the chance of this being crack (instead of something rather more harmless) is pretty remote. Although some people clearly think all "drugs" are the same.

Secondly - of all the things I would worry about teenagers getting up to, smoking weed is fairly low down.

Acid, I believe you, you are successful and creative/arty, you have a job at director level and you never read the Daily Mail. Super.

Jeremy, like you, I very much doubt the kids were doing crack but Uzzy was not really given an opportunity to elaborate before some forumites leapt on his/her post rubbishing and ridiculing any concerns he/she might have. Perhaps Uzzy is not a parent and was unsure whether the incident should be reported on or not. Perhaps Uzzy is elderly and felt uncomfortable about the situation. I felt the post was that of someone seeking advice and might have been treated with a little more understanding and empathy. We all agree smoking a bit of spliff is hardly the crime of the century but this point could have been made to Uzzy in a kinder way- I feel.

I think you're missing the point. Experimenting with a bit of recreational drug use is hardly an errant youth. In fact it describes the vast majority of teens.

First Mate. I believe you are a d!ck. Super!

You wait till the new liberal Democratic Parties Harris Boys school project opens in East Dulwich, Peckham Rye Park will be awash with teenagers and drugs. I notice the FOPR are trying to get the schoolchildren barred from walking through the park, i think they are proposing a tag in the school uniforms that will sound a buzzer on the gates around the parks perimiter.

    • That is absolutely ridiculous.
    • I usually use Mason and Green recently to get to Heathrow. They arrived early and were extremely reliable. The cars are immaculate and had friendly drivers. They also provide child seats for all ages. Used them at 6am.
    • I think you can write to your local council to get the street cleaned more regularly. Also the may put more posters up to remind ppl to do clean up
    • Absolutely right.  The other issue is that rescue centres like Celia Hammond make it nearly impossible to adopt a kitten or cat that desperately needs a home. I know many many people who have tried to adopt and have been refused, and only one couple who have been deemed to have a good enough home. The reasons people have been refused have been that they aren't in a position to take two kittens - unless it's changed recently you weren't considered unless you took 2 as cats  wouldn't be homed without a companion. But lots of people can't afford to feed and insure 2 pets. Another reason I've heard several times is that the potential adoptee lives on a road, not an A road or the south circular but just a road. But what is the other option they're looking for? A country estate? Another reason a couple of friends have been refused is that they have jobs and Celia Hammond said that they were looking for people who were at home all day . So again, what are they looking for? People who can afford not to work?  We are told 'adopt don't shop' but out of the many many families or individuals I know who have tried to give a loving home to a kitten / cat literally only a couple have been accepted, so have ended up buying a kitten. People who have had cats all their lives and adore cats. Of course it's important that adoptees are vetted but it's problematic that cat charities are deciding that a cat / kitten without a home would rather live in a cage at a rescue centre than with a loving person who has a job or lives on a road or cannot afford to pay for the upkeep of more than one pet. My friend has recently tried for months to adopt kittens or cats through various centres and although she was prepared to take two, was rejected by all rescue centres  as she lives on a (quiet) residential road in ED and doesn't work from home every day. She works from home 3 days a week. It's insane.
