What on earth has happened to this place? From being a firm favourite, we walked out yesterday after waiting in a queue without ant acknowledgement and then overhearing seated people asking to be served! Shame..

I was wondering that too. Most of the regular staff missing, aaaaages to get acknowledged or served and breakfast definitely not up to the usual standard. Was wondering if they've changed hands because the awning and sign are missing from the front.

Changed hands a couple of weeks ago I believe.

I think the new owner wanted rid of the part timers, so pressure on the full timers remaining.

You'd think that, initially at least, he'd not break the machine - just let it run and slowly tweak it (if he feels necessary and as evidenced by what he sees in the normal operation of the shop).

Good luck to them I hope it works out for all.

I hope so too but the signs are not good. New owner seems not to have a clue and is utterly unconcerned with the queues that build up..

I've had it with them now-for good! Coffee to go was always yummy (soya) but today was charged a lot more for a lot less by someone who has not a clue. Shame

This is one of the more depressing things to happen to the Lane in a while. The old owner was a legend and always had a minute to chat-- while also feeding seemingly everyone in ED on a Saturday morning.
