sophiesofa
I got mine over a week ago but the neighbours came though my door a couple of days ago so maybe yours is on its way or accidentally at the wrong house. Try googling electoral role - i'm sure there must be websites to check on. Good luck Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/11056-polling-cards/#findComment-318881 Share on other sites
genwilliams
I had to re-register, rendering my initial polling card invalid. I haven't had my new polling card yet - hoping it comes through! buggie
Have called Southwark - we're on the roll and cards should be with us by Fri, but they have confirmed that if cards haven't arrived we'll still be able to vote so long as we take proof of id/address with us... phew!! EDmummy
Didn't know that you got a different one for local and general. If you are worried you are not registered then definitely get in touch with Southwark, otherwise it has been my experience that I have still be allowed to vote if I have lost or forgotten my card. reetpetite
There is only one card and you dont need it as long as you are on the register you just tell the polling clerk your name and address you dont even have to show ID. mc9393
It still surprises me how easy it is vote without any ID. I'm sure our system wouldn't be allowed in some newly democratic country. newbie09
Ours got nicked as left outside our door, neighbour saw them but then they were gone (before we got them). Called council they were useless said - you can't have new ones and if someone has nicked them they will be able to vote without any other ID, so we will have to get there early to make sure or complain afterwards.Bunch of jobsworths at the council whenever I have had to deal with them.... Sue
Had mine ages ago, well it seems like ages abo, but as has been said above, you don't need it to vote in either local or national elections. Huguenot
Newly democratic countries don't use ID either. They use semi-permanent blue finger paint. It's a little impractical, because losing parties tend to try and stop people voting, so a blue finger can sometimes be the mark of death.
