Hi everyone,

My partner and I are thinking about getting a pet dog!

But we both work full time, so would not be able to spend time with the dog during weekdays.

That doesn't seem fair to the dog - I'm not sure how happy it would be.

Does anyone have any tips on how to look after a dog while working full time?

A forumite in a position where she has a dog and works full time was recently looking for someone to share her dog with her. She understood that it wasn't fair on the dog to leave it on it's own all day. It sounds like if you had a dog you would be in a similar position and I think you have got it right in that it wouldn't be fair on the dog. If you can afford to pay a dog minder then I think you will find adverts on the forum offering this service.Hope this helps.

    • Naaah, it's rubbish - it would be a change of use so would need planning. https://www.planningdirect.co.uk/planningappeals/affordable-planning-applications/change-of-use/commercial-to-takeaway-change-of-use There's not enough footfall for a McDonalds, anyway, and they're quite picky about their sites

I don't have the time or the inclination to do the research, but I'm pretty sure that I have read  that when people who had lived in a very run down area  were given  nice surroundings, they appreciated and looked after them.
