EllaD
Hi Ola,I also think that pilates is a really good exercise for pre and post pregnancy as it will help with your posture as well as strengthen your pelvic floor. (I'm a Pilates instructor and I cannot praise it enough). As good as it is, though Pilates is not an aerobics exercise. If you are looking for a more "aerobics" kind of thing ,in my first pregnancy I used to go to a class called maternally fit - it is in Clapham North (5 minutes on overground from Denmark Hill). It is an excellent class, run by a physio from st Thomas's specialised in women health. It combines a cardio warm up (on the Swiss ball, which makes it suitable up until the very end) as well as pelvic floor work (loads of it), legs and arms. You will be sweating a fair bit but she is very carefully to have little breaks in between to keep your heart pumping but within certain limits.Swimming is great exercise too (expecially towards the end). aqua gym could also be a good alternative (as it is low impact on those joints), but I would double check that the instructor is qualified to teach to pregnant women and happy to have you in a general class. Also 40 minutes of bricks walk is a good daily practice ( I'm going to start doing it myself if you need company we can go together!).if you used to run before getting pregnant and you don't have any medical condition, you can keep running.Lastly, most gyms have got personal trainers that are qualified for pregnancy- you can book an hour session with one of them and they will make you a program of exercise that is suitable for your growing belly. You need to be very self motivated though to go to the gym on your own-- I know I am not a gym person! ;p I hope it helps- if you need any more advise just send me a pm! Happy to help!X Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/109945-winter-babies-201617-due-dec-2016-janfeb-2017/page/3/#findComment-1037020 Share on other sites

Amyfs
PS I started pregnancy fit through Jelly Belly at Goose Green Clinic on Wednesday and it was really good. brooke
Hi all, just stumbled across this group! I am due with my first on 13 December (a boy), i'm 33, live in Peckham (Camberwell side) and would love to get to know some locals. Holly, we're also doing the NCT sessions in ED starting 29/10. Look forward to meeting you. I belong to a December due date group on Facebook (formed through mumsnet) and it's been really good - great to have a whinge about midnight leg cramp and crap maternity clothes, etc with those who truly understand! Very happy to join another if one has been started.Brooke Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/109945-winter-babies-201617-due-dec-2016-janfeb-2017/page/3/#findComment-1037541 Share on other sites

apod
Hi Everyone, @donatella thank you for all suggestions; I managed at the end to join jelly bellies on Sunday and did my first class. It was good, I really enjoy Pilates, shame I stopped doing it 2 years ago, it would be so much easier now. Glad FB group has been created. I looked into Clapham group you suggested and may join as well, I may give myself couple of weeks to get used to exercises again before I join. In the meantime, planning to check this Aqua class in local gym. It's only 4.50 if you are not a member, so if any of you would like to join me, please feel free to drop me a message. Best wishes, Ola Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/109945-winter-babies-201617-due-dec-2016-janfeb-2017/page/3/#findComment-1038347 Share on other sites

Sazzle86
Hi everyone! I'm so excited to find this group! I've only just moved to the area and just before we moved I found out that I was pregnant (it was a lovely surprise), so its been a bit of a crazy summer. My friends all live in north east London, so it would be great to meet some people going through a similar thing. I'm due on the 14 February. I'm thinking of signing up to the Group for antenatal classes, is anyone else thinking of going with them?Looking forward to meeting you soon.xx Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/109945-winter-babies-201617-due-dec-2016-janfeb-2017/page/3/#findComment-1049263 Share on other sites

In my pilates class at ESPH, there are two other mums to be due in February.
