Yeah, the Plough has a better and bigger garden. Incidentally I was in the Dog last night or should that read outside the Dog for the first time since the smoking ban came in. At 10pm you have to go inside or to the garden part out the back if you want a fag. I stood around with a couple of pals, standing up with beer in one hand, fag in the other, couldn't get a table so we buggered off. Besides, it's quicker for me and I expect a few others to walk home from the Plough rather than the Dog.

Well the weatherman interviewed on BBC London this morning said that after today (hmmmm) the next 3 days would remain bright and sunny. As ever, conjecture wins over facts

If it's wet on Sunday - well, one person's wet is another person's it'll-be-alright-in-15-mins. I say check this thread around nooninsh and we'll make a collective decision?

If we do go to the park, it's called a picnic, what are we doing for food?

Sean, agree about the raincheck - lets make that collective decision about park or Plough around noon on Sun.

If picnic, i've already said I'll bring a fruit salad and champagne. Might bring some sarnies too - other people could post up what they will bring so not too much duplication.

As for Georgia's post about recognising us by the bottles and cans, well, naughty Georgia! As others will testify, in truth the Forum is virtually teetotal so she was obviously joking. I guess there was the hope that a few folks might come with their kids so it was more a family event than is the case with the Forum drinks. Basically all are welcome.

For Dungdag and others - I posted earlier that, "this little beano is set for Sunday 29th July in Dulwich Park from 3pm. We'll be somewhere on the grass area in front of the Pavilion Cafe, hopefully near the line of trees and shrubs. There will be me, Mrs C and our little two-year old. all welcome, see you there...". We'll have an orange scarf on a stick. Buggie's gang are aiming to set up in that same area too.

    • Avoid companies that are run by non trades people Seems to be the trend lately. Check them on Companies house first. There are some great family companies or sole traders. LMQ Roofing 07860 467708 lmqroofingservices@outlook.com ANR Roofing 08009330439 Fist on my list is Liam McQueen https://www.lmqroofingservices.com/ Honest, reliable, constant updates, proper written quotes professional and lovely polite workers. Great work. Also though we did not use them in the end ANR Roofing based in Wimbledon offered some sound advice and quote.  Also very lovely family run firm. And Crest Roofing based in EC1V 2NX came and gave a quote and seemed very lovely with some advice also. 07934 975769
    • Had a terrible experience with this company recently. Their rooofers were abusive and really not nice. Simple job to remove an aerial which we knew would mostly cost in scaffold turned into a nightmare, They dug up old rotten boards in our front garden (there for beetles) and use under the scaffold. When we questioned the positioning of the scaffold (we needed it down the side and not on top of plants and garden) I received a torrent of offensive teenage sexist shouting. The main guy doing this was called Jimmy. They did eventually remove the aerial (no tools to do so I had to supply) They told us the side of the hip needed new timbers and re-roofing. We'd recently had it inspected and it looked good (I'm a carpenter by trade and went and looked at rafters inside - no issue. They seemed to take offense at my carpentry knowledge also. They pulled ridge tile off then told us it would be 3200 to repair!! Stood on a non load bearing lead canopy and more.  Left cooked food and rubbish in garden, Just avoid them is my advice. One of an ever increasing number of firms owned not by trades people who subcontract and pay the scaffolders pennies. I'll do recommendations in another post!
    • I live locally and am on Lordship Lane and North Cross Road most days. I've never been forced into traffic, or noticed any problem in any of these places! I appreciate that might be different with a buggy or mobility aid. I like to see people enjoying themselves outside.
    • It's good that you've never personally had to experience poison being left but it is a known fact in this area. It's not fly tipping - people leave food out for foxes but there are also people who purposefully leave food out to kill animals.
