????
Is it easy to have say a weekly poll on voting intentions? Might be interesting. Ideally anoymynous and obviously only one vote per registered poster but if it's easy would be good to see if it changed and how near the EDF was to the local result. I really know nothing on how this sort of thing works on a Forum and if it's any hassle then not worth it but just a thought. Administrator Administrator Posted April 19, 2010 Administrator Share Posted April 19, 2010 I have set one up here http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?12,451859,451859#msg-451859 to try out.Is this a clear and unambiguous question...Who will you vote for in the General Election?Conservative Green UKIP Labour Liberal Democrat Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/10929-edf-election-poll/#findComment-316410 Share on other sites
Keef
I think you should include"Other""Won't vote"As options. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/10929-edf-election-poll/#findComment-316420 Share on other sites
Administrator Administrator Posted April 19, 2010 Administrator Share Posted April 19, 2010 Good idea, I am going to make it "I am not voting" so it can include those who can't vote as well as those who won't vote. And how about undecided?Conservative Green UKIP Labour LiberalOtherUndecidedI am not voting Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/10929-edf-election-poll/#findComment-316425 Share on other sites

Ladymuck
I was just wondering (and please excuse my ignorance in this respect) how many "others" there in fact are? What I am trying to say is, if the number is relatively small, could you not list them all? It's just that it would be interesting to see how many votes, say, parties like the BNP (and NO I am NOT a supporter!!!) achieve. Just a thought...probably a stupid one, but a thought nevertheless. Administrator Administrator Posted April 19, 2010 Administrator Share Posted April 19, 2010 Those are the only parties confirmed in the Dulwich and West Norwood constituency, 'others' in this case allows for people outside the area who use the forum however we would like to keep this a local poll. You can see who the candidates are here http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/shared/election2010/results/constituency/b45.stm Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/10929-edf-election-poll/#findComment-316447 Share on other sites

Marmora Man
One question - one observation.Question - can the poll detect multiple voting? It happens for the X Factor, Strictly etc - hope the technology can prevent it here.Observation - it could give Tessa & Harriet something to think about. Administrator Administrator Posted April 20, 2010 Administrator Share Posted April 20, 2010 There are systems in place to prevent multiple voting but it can't detect those who really want to cheat the systems. ????
Statistically I suspect that the sample is now big enough that from now any sudden or dramatic change (of more than a few percentage points) would suggest either foul play or 'manipulation' (Eg load of new members logging on and voting for a party as part of some strategy), so unless there's a seismic shift out their in the real world (eg Clegg is found to be a murderer)then I'm willing to punt that the Liberal Democrats will be the EDFs choice by some way. Ant
Is it worth including an option for people who intend to spoil their ballot? Subtle difference there to the 'not voting' option, perhaps. Brendan
So far all it has shown is that people who dick about on the internet all day* tend to support the Lib Dems. *This is obviously because they are vastly intelligent and find the various other pressures of their jobs so easy to deal with that they have plenty of free time. Of course it is so let?s leave it at that shall we. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/10929-edf-election-poll/#findComment-317036 Share on other sites
????
Absolutely - Tories are far more likely to be too busy making money and avoiding taxes; Labourites are far too busy scheming, backstabbing and trying to get their kids into high performing state schools miles from where they live; Liberal Democrats are a bunch of workshy, slackers and dreamers. Administrator Administrator Posted April 21, 2010 Administrator Share Posted April 21, 2010 re. spoilt ballots, because there is no differentiation between intentionally and unintentionally spoilt ballots in an election ballot and in both cases neither count, we will not ask about them. *Bob*
One thing which would be useful (if possible?) would be a total number of votes cast. It's great to see 'our boys' out in the lead, but if there have only been 42 votes it's not so impressive.
