Recommendation for Matt Plants and Gardens

Recommended Posts

We have just had our garden landscaped by Matt at http://www.mattplantsandgardens.com.

He has done a terrific job at a good price. He has been creative and given us something more than we expected, working around our budget and giving us a lovely garden. Our back garden has no access except through our flat and he has been very clean and tired, clearing up every evening and we have barely noticed him being there. I highly recommend him.

I'm very happy to second this recommendation for Matt Plants and Gardens, who recently completely remodelled our back garden.

Matt is very friendly, professional and listened to our initial ideas before talking us through his thoughts, which was a godsend for two novice gardeners like myself and my husband. Having said that, he was never pushy and respected our wishes; more just great to have someone with as much experience as him talk us through pros and cons.

Like Tomemery13, we have no access to our back garden except for through our house and Matt and his assistant Mahmon were polite, tidy and very discreet. They were considerate about my little boy's naptimes and were happy to work around doing most of the loud work while we were out of the house.

The level of finish is great and we are very happy with the price. Now that the remodelling is done, we'll definitely be hiring Matt to come back and finish the job with some planting too, and when budget allows we're going to ask him to do our front garden as well. All in all a great service.

Another recommendation here! Matt and his assistant Mahmon have just completely overhauled our back garden and we're thrilled with the results. Despite being a small garden, it was a big job (lifting uneven paving, removing a large flowerbed, putting up a new fence, levelling the whole space, laying artificial turf and re-laying the paving into a new patio), but they worked quickly and efficiently, and kept us informed and involved throughout. They adhered exactly to the initial quote they gave us, despite having to re-lay part of the turf which was faulty - not their fault at all, but they rectified the issue quickly and without passing on the cost to us, which was much appreciated.

Like mrspnoble above, my husband and I are complete novice gardeners, so it was lovely to have Matt give us ideas and suggestions while still working within the bounds of the plan we gave him. He also helped us to save an existing tree which was getting totally swamped in the undergrowth - it's now standing proud in its own space and should be thriving again come the spring!

Overall we were very impressed and pleased with the job they did - would definitely recommend their services and would hire them again.

    • One of the main reasons these goslings don't survive is because once they leave their nest on the island, they are unable to return to it's safety because of the height of the artificial bank - it's basically a brick wall, with no natural slope.  So they & their parents are left to try to fend off predators either in the water or on the outer bank - literally sitting ducks. I think in the last 10 years I've only seen a handful of goslings survive to maturity, and that's with two broods per year, often six, eight, ten goslings per brood.  It's very sad, and just needs the council / parks to remove some bricks to create a more natural sloped bank so they can access the safety of the island. I've asked many times, and hoped some of the Gala "biodiversity" funds could be used, but to no avail.  There are signs all around the lake stating dogs should be on a lead, but many owners seem to miss them, and don't appear to be concerned that the wildfowl are visibly & audibly disturbed by their presence, or aware how much damage their dogs can do. A few years back a loose dog attacked a male Egyptian goose and injured it so badly that it had to be taken to a sanctuary. Egyptian geese mate for life, so the female has remained alone ever since.
    • I agree that selling items online can be a bit of a faff but the ebay app makes  it easier these days to put photos on, set a postage rate, descriptions, etc. I’ve been buying and selling on eBay for quite a while now and it can be hit and miss with the selling and it does take a bit of time, buying the packaging, taking it to the post office (which I use to send everything I sell) but it can be a way to make a bit of spare cash.  I sell bits on eBay for myself and for a charity I support. I’ve been selling bits on this forum for my charity but this is a bit hit and miss as well.   If the OP pms me maybe I might be able to help and sell her clothes for her (and me) 😀
    • 80pc of the value comes from 20pc of the inventory. I'd suggest running through it and putting into 3 heaps: A - quality branded. Depending on how much there is in this category, you might then be able to find someone for a 'split the profits' offer.  C - un-sellable by charity (marked, damaged). To a "clothes by the KG" service. B - everything else. Donate to charity.
