JohnL
When Southern or Thameslink trains are on time (or only 2 or 3 minutes late), I feel blessed. d.b
Trains running on time at 3pm is meaningless. They start screwing up just when everyone wants to start using them. BrandNewGuy
The 17.01 and 17.11 were fine and on time. Trains running on time at 3pm is not menaingless for someone wanting to catch a train at 3pm. KidKruger
I think it was 1706 the next one, I just made it to my appt anyway.Fact is, trains are inconsistent enough generally that you have to factor in a service not running if you want to be sure of getting to LB on time. I failed to do that which was no-one's fault but my own. Alan Medic
I tried claiming for a cancelled train, last week I think. I'd done so before a few times. When I tried to log in to the site it didn't recognise my password. Maybe I'd forgotten it but I generally use the same one for things I consider unimportant. So I used the 'forgotten your password' option. I'm still waiting for an email. Did this happen to anyone else? Seems like a good way of putting people off bothering to claim. BrandNewGuy
New compensation scheme announced for Southern Rail customers ? in addition to Delay Repay:https://www.gov.uk/government/news/compensation-payment-of-1-months-travel-for-southern-passengersTens of thousands of Southern rail passengers are to be repaid the equivalent of a month?s travel for the extraordinary disruption they have suffered, the government announced today (2 December 2016).More than 84,000 passengers will be compensated to recognise the particular hardship of those who have suffered long delays, cancellations and disruption in recent months. This disruption is due to a number of causes including Network Rail track failures, engineering works, unacceptably poor performance by the operator and the actions of the RMT union.Season ticket holders will be able to claim a refund for the equivalent of a month?s (4 weeks) travel. That means an annual season ticket holder will be able to claim a refund against their 2016 ticket, which can be paid directly into their bank account. This is a one off compensation payment and is in addition to the improved Delay Repay 15 compensation scheme, which will begin operation on Govia Thameslink Railway (GTR) services from December 11, ministers announced today....... Customers claiming against quarterly, monthly or weekly tickets must have bought travel for at least 12 weeks between 24 April 2016 and 31 December 2016 to be eligible.GTR will also be able to consider proof of purchase from people claiming this compensation who are not registered with the company... bargee99
Why is the taxpayer picking up the tab for this and not the atrocious Southern rail? We are paying ourselves for this appalling service. d.b
Will it even be applicable for people using TfL/Oyster travelcards? It is clearly different for us who can go via alternate (though inconvenient) routes vs someone totally reliant on Southern services commuting from outside of London.Does anyone know what a typical ED travelcard user might be entitled to, if anything? goldilocks
Re the question on weekly tickets - the post says Customers claiming against quarterly, monthly or weekly tickets must have bought travel for at least 12 weeks between 24 April 2016 and 31 December 2016 to be eligible. So would assume yes. For those of us on pay as you go, it is clearly viewed that we could take one of the many other alternatives avoiding southern and therefore we weren't forced to pay for a service we couldn't use... Obviously misses the point that there is no real viable alternative, but I understand why the distinction has been drawn. I believe you can't request any further information longer than two months.I'd suggest in future that you register on the TfL website, then request a weekly email which obviously will be stored in your email folder for as long as you want. Bic Basher
Bad news for ED/PR commuters, from Tuesday the Beckenham Junction trains are once again cancelled due to the ASLEF overtime ban. If Southern manage to overturn the ASLEF strike in the Court of Appeal, they will operate. It appears the Wimbledon's are cancelled now, while the 0809 is back on the timetable. So between 8-9am, the through services to LB are 09, 29 and 56. One from Beckenham Junction, two from West Croydon.
