I'm wondering if anyone has ever rented out their house/flat for a week over the xmas holidays? I was thinking maybe someone might go away every xmas and fancy hiring it out for a week or so? We wouldn't be able to afford a huge amount - but i thought perhaps someone might quite like the idea of making a small amount of cash and the security of having 2 very well behaved 60year olds in their house. Or - if that's not an option - can anyone recommend a decent hotel nearby - has anyone used the boutique hotel in camberwell (the one above the tapas place)? or know of a holiday rental flat in the area? any ideas gratefully received - we'll have a 2 month old and my brother, wife and toddler staying with us - I think also accommodating my dad (lovely but not the most helpful!) might drive us insane! would be great to find somewhere for them to stay that wouldn't be too pricey

I think this is a great idea. My Mum often house sits for my friends now as a way of visiting me without us all being squashed in here.

Hope you find somewhere....we don't tend to go away at Christmas any more I'm afraid. Actually, I wonder if you may do better posting in the 'wanted' bit as maybe those of us with kids are more prone to stay home for Christmas....I know for us the travelling/packing car with presents plus kids paraphenelia just got all too much.

Good luck!

Hi! We tend to be looking for housesitters at Xmas, and would welcome this type of arrangement. We have 3 cats though, so some petsitting would be part of the job description (Just feeding, really. They're pretty low maintenance). We haven't finally confirmed our plans for this coming Xmas, but should know in the next couple of months. I can keep you posted if you don't find an alternative!

    • All good to hear. Cheers BNG If I’m honest, those fliers give off very bland corporate energy   also. Shouldn’t it be a relaunch party instead of a launch party?    hopefully I’m wrong and it’s great
    • The good news is that the Blythe's new leaseholder is Austin Whelan, who runs a chain of very decent Irish pubs, mainly in south London. By all accounts, he has no intention of making any major changes. It reopened last week.
    • A builder said that to me once! What I should have said (but thought of it too late) was that given that I was paying him to do a job, I expected that my glass would be full, not half full 🤣 But yes, you are right in this instance!
    • Just had a flyer through the door. Posting here for people who haven't had theirs yet. The 50% off food is for three days only, and advance bookings only. I liked the EDT as it used to be, so I really hope the changes won't be too massive. Last time I looked through the window the bar seemed to be still in the same place, but who knows. Think I'll wait a bit to try the food. When The Lordship launched, we went for a meal there and let's say things didn't go smoothly 😂 Anybody who was there will know what I mean 😂 They have redeemed themselves since, I hasten to add 😂
