Marmite XO - the big rush?

I hear that it is possible to buy Marmite XO a stronger and longer matured version of the standard stuff.

Trouble is, as a life long "Marmariti" I cannot locate any near ED.

Can anyone help with:

a. Location of a dealer

b. A review of flavour and effectiveness

Is there a Vegemite version I wonder?! Not keen on Marmite (proving that there is a 3rd alternative to either loving or hating) but prefer less salty Vegemite taste.

I saw an artistic display of the product just last week in Selfridges. Unfortunately the Birmingham branch. And cannot advise on taste. I'm a Bovril man myself.

Personally, I think you're all weird. The smell makes me gag when I have to ake marmite on toast for Mrs Keef.

That said, I'll look in the little Tesco near us on Kirkdale, and report back. It's a rubbish Tesco though, so don't hold your breath.

Me too (seen it in Morrisons) - I reckon it's the old formula: Black, sticky - a little goes a long, long way. Marmite of recent years is a watered down version.

I won't name a name or point a yeast darkened finger at the individual, but there's been mention made of Vegemite on a Marmite thread.

V******e is the limp, sorry dopey cousin at the wedding, leaning against the bar and drinking very small cans of weak lager compared to the Marmite relative, who is out there on the dance floor doing the Hucklebuck with two bridesmaids at a time.

To use some of my Caledonian chums vernacular, it's pish.

To quote Bertie Wooster it's pish and tosh.

I've been looking for the cereal bars too but can't find them anywhere! Massive anticipation of trying this! Although I can't tell the Guinness one is any different to be honest

Is Marmite XO much different from the original or even the Guinness version (which IMO had a different texture but not taste).

Wow I'm excited about XO. The guiness one tasted the same to me but the champagne valentines (which I gave to myself) one was absolutely disgusting. I hope they don't bring out XO out in the squeezy - it tastes better from a proper jar.

They're brilliant!

And Tesco do some which taste much the same but are cheaper :))

Yeah....down with squeezy jars. Hurrah for rice cakes. Boo hiss for the champagne version. Bring on the XO. Gosh...I never knew I had 'opinions' on marmite/marmite products.

I thought the stuff in the squeezy thing was actually a different recipe to the stuff in the proper jar?

It definitely tastes different, and not so nice. I thought they'd somehow made it runnier in order to be able to be squeezed out, and that that had affected the flavour?

the cereal bars are awful. To me they don't taste at all like marmite.

I agree the champagne version was terrible, the original's the best, in the jar of course. looking forward to trying the XO though..

I hate the taste and smell...but it looks rather beautiful.

You may be able to buy it in Franklins for ?25 a jar.

The squeezy one definitely has a different consistency - maybe it's just as simple as a higher water or oil content. I might be a geek and ask google.
