It's a discussion about which implement to use when planting seeds. A dibber is what one traditionally uses. Mr Pallywotsitoos has just cleaned his. Ladymuck uses her finger, and I've lost my dibber so I use a pointed handle instead. It's all very simple.Do keep up, dear. This isn't "Carry on Gardening" you know. Michael Palaeologus
Oooo Matron. I actually used the thick end of chop stick to ease the seeds in.Anybody who glances through my front window will see the product of my hard work basking in the sun. legalbeagle
Well that's mighty kind of you both, but I must decline. I've got my beady eye on a new dibber that I spotted recently. It looks like it'll do me just nicely. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/10802-michael-pallywotsitooos/page/2/#findComment-314076 Share on other sites

Michael Palaeologus
Thats my problem. People keep passing over my old and experienced dibber for a newer model. brum
Why, only seeds that will become strong healthy plants, LM.I have a small trowel. And I like it. Ladymuck
Good for you brum. In any event, to be honest, there isn't much you can't sow even with the smallest of trowels. It has advantages over larger models too, e.g. easier on the hands/wrist due to it's light-weightedness, it makes accessing difficult/small areas much easier, and of course, it is less bulky to carry around. This list is not definitive by the way. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/10802-michael-pallywotsitooos/page/2/#findComment-317494 Share on other sites
brum
Thank you LM, for realising the many benefits to be had with a small one, beyond just digging small holes. Ladymuck
My pleasure brum. And do not forget to thoroughly clean your trowel after every use. That way you will not spread disease and it will last you for years. Ladymuck
Yes...a gardener is only as good as his/her tools. Which reminds me, watch out for rust. Don't expose your trowel to rain or even foggy air.
