gufflings
...does anyone know a local mum with a roughly 5-month-old daughter called Wren?I met her a few weeks back at the breastfeeding cafe in Peckham Library and she really made me laugh. I don't know many other mums in the area and thought it would be nice to see her again because I liked her sense of humour, but didn't say anything at the time and haven't seen her since.Of course, if you do know her, or if you are her, and you find my stalkerish post rather offputting feel free not to pass the message on/reply... :-$[God, now I know how men feel asking girls out. Excruciating...] Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/10769-hate-to-sound-like-a-stalker-but/ Share on other sites
Smiler
Don't know the lady, but know exactly what you mean, trying to make friends can sometimes feel a lot like teenage dating, with all the fears of rejection etc.! gufflings
Exactly! Feel like an utter plonker but it's worth a shot...Just in case she/someone who knows her reads this, that day I think I was wearing a grass green kimono-style jumper, a floral neckscarf and blue jeans. Also some shoes, obviously, but no idea what they were. My daughter is called Lois and she was a couple of months old at the time.OK, enough now. [slinks away thoroughly embarrassed...] Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/10769-hate-to-sound-like-a-stalker-but/#findComment-313163 Share on other sites
radhabee
Hahahah! Well I'm deeply flattered - Radha here, Wren's mum. I remember you and Lois and was also wearing shoes, so we already have loads in common. I'll PM you with phone number etc but wanted to post here so everyone would know you're a successful stalker :) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/10769-hate-to-sound-like-a-stalker-but/#findComment-313235 Share on other sites

pebbles
This has seriously made me giggle. So many times i have met nice mums but haven't had the guts to ask for their number - good on you :)I too pity men (or the brave women out there) who ask people out on dates Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/10769-hate-to-sound-like-a-stalker-but/#findComment-313252 Share on other sites
Fuschia
I have collected lots of mums numbers over the years.. and made a very good friend of a mum I accosted while she was brestfeeding her daughter in sainsburys cafe.. now she is godmother to my twins! It's nice to make friends, but it can be a bit difficult. Maybe we should have a mum-friend matchmaking thread.Would like to meet, mum with a high tolerance of over exuberant 7 year old boys, must like eating cake. amydown
Very true - about it being like Freshers Week. I was thinking today I would quite like to set up a playdate network for our 6m old boy. Sounds early but I have my reasons! Better go and post that thread now... But Radha, I hope I'm not the weirdo you spend the next three years trying to shake off... And I promise not to follow you to your house/build a shrine to you/go all single white female on yo *ss.Thanks for getting in touch! Ruth_Baldock
Making friends with other Mummies reminds me of being about 3 and in Kindergarten 'Do you wanna be my fweeeeeeeeeeeeeend?'Nice to see I'm not the only one out there! Well done on your stalking skills, guffling ;) It's all very 'missed connections'.
