Some of you may go this lovely cafe in Rye Lane. If so, you might feel inclined to sign the linked petition regarding the Councils decision to stop the cafe's garden being used. This obviously has income drop issues, especially in summer. I think the owner quite understands the issues that there might be for neighbours and is proposing to limit use only to certain times of day but council seen unwilling to budge. Anyway, I'm just a customer and don't claim to know what's really going on - but I like the place!

Lerryns is my favourite place to go for brunch (child free environment usually)!

It has a great student type feel about it and my mate travels from lewisham each week for us to meet there! She reckons the lattes are the best and we both love the mash it ups.

Anyway please sign this as it seems really unfair the garden can't be used during the day.

Is this Renata's area?

Please don't sign this petition. You're not being given the full picture, and Southwark council have been extremely reasonable with the cafe considering the situation.

We live next door and it's been a total nightmare. Imagine having thirty people talking over each other outside your window. The cafe has NEVER had planning permission to expand into the rear yard, they just went ahead and did it and then consistently ignored every single planning decision that didn't go in their favour. It used to be a shop before they opened the cafe (without any planning permission or consultation with neighbours about the change of use). Then they expanded into the rear yard, which is surrounded on all sides by flats and totally unsuitable as a public space (no consultation or council permission). Then they started opening until 11pm and holding parties (still no planning permission). At this point it became obvious that it was actually more of a late night bar than a cafe. The council had to take enforcement action to stop what was effectively an unlicensed venue. Then, the "cafe" started making multiple repetitive applications to try and legitimise their status quo. Despite their appalling record of non-compliance they managed to get the cafe permission, then the 11pm permission - but thank God the council drew the line at letting them expand into the rear yard. Now they're pitching this petition as it they're being unfairly victimised. This is beyond a joke. Please don't sign it.

I have not seen this place or it's location to its neighbours..

.. The petition states the garden has 30 seats.. so with 30 people chatting outside with kids running around

could deem a nuisance to its close neighbours wishing to sit in their garden trying to enjoy a bit of peace and quiet.

Hi all, this is not my patch but I am Chair of Licensing and chaired the committee that granted this premises its license. I don't remember the garden being part of the license application. It would have had to have been for them to use it. It would have also have needed planning permission. I suspect that there has been enforcement by council officers in this case (either from licensing or planning if this has been breached). I think it's not a case of council officers being awkward but rather doing their job properly.

    • Indeed ianr, I didn't have time to include all Royal Mail options, thanks for that extra bit, they have been spot on for me, I use them a lot and have never had any issues with delivery, touch wood!
    • People are switching to electric cars irrespective of fuel prices.  100s of millions that could be spent on hospitals and schools for example have been lost due to fuel duty freezes and a supposedly temporary reduction.  Fuel is relatively cheap at the moment.  With a stonking majority when is it time to rightly take on motorists? Farming, I simply referred to Paul Johnson of the IFS who knows more about the economy that you, I and Truss will ever know. Food?  Au contraire.  It's too cheap, too poor quality and our farmers are squeezed by the supermarkets and unnatural desire to keep it cheap.  A lot less takeaways and more home cooking with decent often home produced, food should benefit most in our society. Be honest you do t like Labour.
    • In fact there was a promotional leaflet came through the letter box today, for sending by RM's parcel post by buying online.  There are also options mentioned for having the labels printed  at a Collect+ store or at a Parcel Locker.  More info at https://www.royalmail.com/.
