Holly B
Lorna cared for my daughter brilliantly for 3.5 years from age 9 months to 4 yrs. My daughter still talks about Lorna and likes to pop in and visit her from time to time.Lorna takes a lot of care to provide age appropriate activities to keep children stimulated, entertained and constantly learning. She has a great combination of experience and energy that she devotes to the children in her care. She creates a caring family environment where children read, cook, sing, dance, play with toys inside and outside in her garden, visit the library, playgrounds, museum, softplay and other playgroups.I would highly recommend Lorna's childminding. Andi-in-ed
Just wanted to post a quick recommendation for Lorna, my daughter has been with Lorna Monday-Thursday for about 7 weeks now and she has settled in incredibly well (she is almost too happy to be dropped off which I am trying not to take to heart!). They go out pretty much everyday (they only don't go out if my daughter isn't up for it) to the park, rhyme time, soft play and different classes. They also meet up with other childminders in lorna's network and so there is lots of time for socialising and peer interaction. Lorna's home is really well set up for childcare- it is clean and tidy, she has all sorts of supplies, toys, books, crafts, a lovely garden with mud kitchen etc. She loves cooking so there is always something different on the menu and she is really flexible to suit the needs of my daughter- I was really nervous to explain that we were doing BLW because it is so messy but there was no problem Lorna takes it all in her stride - which makes sense as she has so much experience! The interaction between Lorna and my daughter is really lovely to see- they have a fantastic bond already and seem to have a good joke together with lots of giggles and smiles. Very happy to answer any questions or met up for a coffee if you wanted more of a recommendation- I know Lorna is keen to take on another child (or two) and I would love my little one to have some more playmates! To know your child is in an incredibly loving and safe environment while you are at work definitely helps to ease your transition back- although it's never going to be easy! Andi-in-ed
We are moving out of the area which means unfortunately we are going to have to find alternative arrangements for our daughters childcare, but I wanted to follow up my previous review of our childminder Lorna as she will now have space Monday - Thursday to fill (although so is always really flexible if your looking for something different). My daughter has been with Lorna for the last year, and I could not be happier with the care she has given to her, Lorna is practically one of the family and my daughter absolutely adores her. The environment Lorna creates is filled with fun, laughter and love with lots or activities and learning built in. Everyday holds something new and Lorna has even set up a playgroup which has really helped with social skills. It has been wonderful to see my daughter develop, both physically and mentally, over the past year and to learn from Lorna how she challenges and supports this. I now have a confident, inquisitive, funny, energetic young lady on my hands- I can just a bit keep up. They enjoy a really varied diet as Lorna loves to cook, I am sure my daughter is desperate to get back to Lorna's kitchen after a weekend of my cooking! We have an open conversation with Lorna around development stages and work collaboratively to provide consistency across the two homes and I am grateful of the advice Lorna has given around my daughter's development- building confidence, preparing for nursery, food, potty training etc. I am so sorry to have to say goodbye to Lorna, it will be heartbreaking for me and my daughter, but I am confident that the time my daughter has had with Lorna has really prepared her for nursery life and Lorna and I both agree that this is the right time for her to move on to the next stage of her life. If you are looking for a childminder and your priority is a safe, loving, fun environment then I really recommend Lorna- very happy to answer any questions or catch up for a coffee. Lorna's email in above or PM and I can share her phone number.
