DirtyBox
Anyone got any recomendations for a venue to use for a 40th birthday party? Have asked East Dulwich Tavern who want ?3k in bar takings which is frankly taking the p1ss. As there will also be football on the night in question, somewhere with a TV would be good... Jah Lush
Upstairs at The Magnolia or above The Dog (Crown & Greyhound) in the Dulwich Village. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/10546-party-venue/#findComment-308790 Share on other sites
Keef
Dulwich Constitutional Club. Bit old school, but a nice place. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/10546-party-venue/#findComment-308800 Share on other sites
mockney piers
Or go for something more memorable like this for instance.3k doesn't seem alot if you're talking about hiring the whole place and if you're talking enough to make the place feel full, say 120+ish, then 25 odd quid each doesn't seem a difficult prospect as 20 quid seems to be the price of a round these days. (downstairs is that or the upstairs thingy?), if there are alot of you, why not just take the place over and sod the hiring bit.The missus had a great 30th at the George Canning, we had a band and Steve put on a nice spread of food It is under new management now, but they seem a nice bunch so may be worth talking to. DirtyBox
Hi Mockney, ?20 per head doesn't sound much but it's still 5+ pints each and although some people have that for breakfast many don't, the thought of finishing my 40th birthday party by writing out a cheque for drinks I didn't have breaks my heart! mockney piers
Or about 3 of that bane of all beer drinking men, the large glass of wine.Campaign to ban ladies from being in beer rounds anyone? But I see where you're coming from. As i say, probably just best to reserve a couple of large tables, pay for some finger food and take over a large chunk of the EDT without the whole hiring malarkey.Back of the Black Cherry have been good to the EDF drinks on a couple of occasions, perhaps talk to them too? Bellenden Belle
Or how about the Lodge - above the EDT? A great space, really suited to parties, and often under-used. Horsebox
What about the Lido Cafe, Brockwell Park (owned by my friends Duncan & Dan). They've put on some very succesful parties since opening, now serve draft beer and of course can provide food. They have just opened their terrace area for the spring/summer as well. Not sure what they would charge but worth an ask as it's a lovely setting. sazzle
If you are prepared to travel in to the city most of the pubs/bars will do free hire as they do not normally open on the weekends. There are some really nice venues. A friend recently got an area at Village East on Bermondey st, with its own bar. Sue
You could try DHFC, next to Sainsbury's, room looks not too good in the raw, you need to imagine it with fairy lights and tea lights and stuff, and little vases of flowers, as with our Goose gigs innit.See some of the pix in the gallery on our website to get an ideawww.thegooseisout.com Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/10546-party-venue/#findComment-308991 Share on other sites
