Hello,

Has anybody used the new fleet of buses recently introduced to the 40 bus route?

If so you will have no doubt noticed that they have replaced the traditional bell sound with something akin to a panic alarm. I didn't think the experience of the bus could get any worse, until now.

I would like to register my disgust.

Admittedly I was probably in my travelling by bus reverie but the 'Panic Attack' sound described in the original post was different to the sound made by the blue wheelchair button and it occurred throughout the journey. I will pay more attention when I travel by the no. 40 next.

Seen it, accidently pressed it and got a "you idiot"

look from the driver.

    • Thanks jazzer, jazzer,  Jazzer 😀 I don't know either of those pubs, believe it or not, so I will google the Heaton Arms, thank you (and thanks for the tip about the easiest way!) ETA: Well, I googled it and apparently it was demolished in 2005 🤣 but I guess it was somewhere near Heaton Road. ETA again: It looks like I can get a 63 or 363 from the stop near the end of Barry Road, so assuming that's open that would be easier.
    • Niko hardly needs another recommendation but we use him regularly. He's good value, he turns up when he says - or tells you if he can't - and definitely knows what he is doing.
    • Ian the guy who used to own the garage left last year. The place is run by someone else now. Ian was our reliable mechanic for many years, a sad loss. We now use Turners on Barry Road.
    • Agreed that Niko is really good: he was helpful and explained everything in detail, and did a good job fixing the problem I had. He was also honest rather than trying to drum up a bigger (more expensive) job for himself by telling me everything needed replacing etc. He charged a very reasonable rate. Will definitely call him when I need a plumber again and would recommend!
