The first time I've started a thread - what a thrill!

I just want comment that the Family Room discussion ROCKS. I was perusing the other discussion lists and was taken aback by the tone of some of the posts; some rude, many cynical, but above all most of the discussions were incredibly circular and in my opinion of no real positive value.

In this discussion list the threads are always interesting ? never a question too trivial or stupid ? and the responses are always informative and supportive. Best of all, the discussion generated by these threads actually help folks resolve issues, or point them in the direction of good resources that lead to resolution.

I have found this a great resource and judging by the threads I read, it has been invaluable to many in the ED community. I?ve never met any of you (apart from Molly, patron saint of the List) but feel very connected.

Aren?t we lucky! And thanks to everyone who makes this discussion list rock!

Ahhh, just what I needed after spending the day with a snotty, grumpy 17 month old.

I am so not a saint in any form, but thank you.

I used to actively avoid the EDF for all the reasons your mentioned APenn, but love the family room, and all (oh ok...most!!) of the wonderful people who post on here. I feel I have learnt so much on here, and I feel it helps me to get the most out of my local area.

I am really looking forward to some ED Mum's meetings in the park this summer.

GROUP HUG!!!!

(Blushing slightly and running off to hide in a corner).....:-$

Me too. I sometimes think it's crazy - I share more of my baby/parenting issues (and other dramas!) with an internet forum than I do with my 'real' friends...(hmm but maybe should share less??!?).

Family room has pretty much helped me through my first year of motherhood!! Bet you're all looking forward to babysnowboarder: the toddler years!!! Coming soon....

I couldn't agree more! This part of the forum has a very welcoming feel to it (most of the time!), and lots of people sharing great information. I'm an official addict - hence I'm logged on while on holiday in NZ :-$

I've met loads of the ladies who post on here, and all are lovely! So nice to be able to walk around East Dulwich and regularly bump into people I know through the family room.

I have posted more on this forum than any poster, and used to love "The Lounge", back in the days when it was really funny, and there were interesting conversations. These days however, I barely read anything in that section, and very rarely post in there.

I admit, that being a bloke, a lot of the stuff in this section doesn't really involve me, so I don't read it all. However, becoming a dad this year has been a life changing experience (especially for someone who had my lifestyle a year ago), and some of the stuff in here has been really interesting for me, and really useful.

Big thumbs up, I just wish some of the other dads would post a bit more, as I have to say, it is a little bit of a ladies room, but I guess that was always going to be the case.

I too wish we had more dads in the family room as it's great to get their opinions and it would be more balanced as everyone says.

Big thumbs up to all the people who contribute in this room and even the non-family room regulars as sometimes we mums (and dads) can't see through our yoghurt smeared sunglasses.

I was umming and erring about coming to the night out but now feel a group hug and some red wine would be heart warming. Have made some lovely friends thanks to the forum and it's definitely helped me with family life - especially thanks to lorraineliyanage who provided me with a birthing pool mid labour. My friends and family thought that was amazing!

* I have also met "molly" & very nice she is indeed *

(edited to say. Posting here does (at first) feel like being "dared" to run through the girls changing rooms when you were about 12 years old )

I have in the past, posted in the main room and it felt a bit like being savaged by wild dogs. Nothing personal *woof*, but that room has teeth! The family room is more like being surounded by purring mummy cats.:))

Just would like to say we're the real Dulwichmums.

Some are pregnant expecting their first child, others are on their second or third and can give invaluble advise freely on just about anything.

Some are experiencing the sometimes harrowing world of finding childcare for the first time and again getting honest feedback from the forum.

Others have older children and the equally stressful job of finding appropriate schools for thier child.

The occasional parent has the current stress of GCSE'S , ( might feedback about that later.) Said 16 year old is presently in the kitchen working.( At last!)

Most of us have probably not been born and bred locally and don't have the advantage of family members around to help out, ( I know I didn't.) I'm fairly sure we've got Americans, Canadians, Aussies, (Kiwis, Pickle?) and no doubt a whole host of other nationalities not mentioned.

Oh and I forgot to say work! Yeah that's the distraction that helps pay the bills!

I truly think the Admin Team do a great job. Thanks and yes this section does rock but not necessarily without the help from some Dulwichdads.
