Rosetta
Are they handing out snack samples? Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/103748-ms-on-lordship-lane/page/5/#findComment-1041059 Share on other sites
sillywoman
No nice 'Welcome to our East Dulwich store' snacky freebies - I know they're big enough nor to have to care, but thought it would have been a nice touch. Still, am glad to see it open after so many years of will-it-won't-it & waiting. worldwiser
Astonishing what they've managed to cram into the place. And almost comically good humoured staff. But the rather unedifying hordes made it one of the most gymnastic gauntlets I've run in a shop in quite some time. I'm assuming the desperation to get one's hands on some mouth-wateringly ripe mango and impossibly-trimmed asparagus spears will subside in the days to come and it will soon become less of a challenge. Chief
Appropriately named SILLYWOMAN, criticising M&S for not handing out "snacky freebies"! Jenny1
I disagree Chief. A 'snacky freebie' is always welcome. If you happen to be on LL today, and don't mind a scrum, it's worth popping in for a sense of 'opening day fever'. There's a huddle of what look like M and S middle management convened on the pavement and the store itself is 'rammed', as Jeremy Corbyn would say.Apparently expectant queues stretched down to the bank on the corner of Ashbourne Grove by the time they opened the doors this morning. worldwiser
I imagine JC would have another word for M&S ED. His definition of rammed is 'close to empty.' Rosetta
The M&S in Finchley Road, NW11 has great staff and frequently offers samples of new products including drinks. singalto
Not just a good hall, it's an M&S food hall, presumably like all other M&S food halls so why join in a scrum? Jenny1
My view LM, is that this would have been an opportunity to innovate. Foodhall with added pants. It has a certain resonance. Would it have killed them to break the mould? Louisa
Well I have been in and bought some prosecco, along with some fancy cheese and chutney.Ridiculous queues, and people with bloody kids blocking the aisles. But overall a pleasant experience and very friendly staff.Louisa. Jeremy
Surely nobody is really surprised by it's popularity. The place was a nailed-on success.I do get a bit tired of the grouchy anti-child nonsense on here. Kids in the supermarket - during the school holidays! How dare they!
