"when a young man stepped out in front of me and appeared to be commanding me to stop. (Which I was forced to do, with all the rush hour traffic behind as well) Then a group of around 8-10( I guess), all of school age, stepped out on the road, and it was clear that they were dominating the road and crossing wherever they wanted, however they wanted"

If he had not have stopped or could not have stopped he would have been at fault. The man stepping out had no regard for anyone's safety and is at fault.

It is important which is why it's been there since the forum started and even has "Top 10 tips for a safer neighbourhood and safer homes" as suppied by the local police.

To be fair, it only has ED safer neighbourhood team info but quite a bit of East Dulwich is actually in the Peckham Rye safer neighbour team area as shown on the maps which are in my links above.

And therefore they have different email addys and phone numbers. Mark/Admin, please could both safer neighbourhood teams' details go in the information? (Even if no-one knows to find it!)

The buses don't stop - saw someone clipped from behind by a 78 when (jay)walking down Rye lane on Friday.

He seemed OK though

    • We enjoyed ravioli at Due Fratelli (near the bus stop on Lordship Lane  which TFL for some reason calls Goose Green) the other evening. Though they seem to have more pizza options than pasta, and not many pasta options for vegetarians (though obviously that won't worry you if you aren't a vegetarian!)
    • Are you saying that if you are walking down North Cross Road from the direction of Upland Road that you can't hear it once you have passed the dentist? Because if so, it can't be the alarm next to the dentist which I referred to above (unless it coincidentally stops making a sound  every time you pass it!)
    • Looking for a gas canisters for a BBQ, if any one has got one hanging around they no longer want/need and want to sell? Just let me know. Any of the green patio gas bottle sizes, or the red bottles Cheers Tommy
    • Admin please move to lounge (or the nature thread in this section) if more appropriate. This article includes a link to  a survey for people to comment on the reintroduction of White Storks to Greater London. I think this is a great idea, but the survey asks for all shades of opinion on various potential issues with doing this. Please read the article and fill in the survey  if you are interested! It only takes five minutes! https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2025/aug/04/rewilding-group-to-assess-possible-return-of-white-storks-to-london?CMP=Share_AndroidApp_Other
