shame i missed keef today tho

on topic again. . I popped into the plough this afternoon and spoke to manager to apologise for our tardiness in leaving on fri. She was very good on the night and very good today. Said she enjoyed it and hoped we did too.

with the acoustic afternoons imminent im warming to the plough more and more

good night had last Friday, sorry I didn't get to speak to more people.

I'm posting this tentatively on this thread to get some feedback before I announce properly:

The birthday's going to be on Friday 21st September (is that ok? There's nothing else happening that night is there?), and we need a venue. Does anyone know somewhere that can hold about 50 people? What about upstairs at the Magdela? I'm going to send out an email to the 1,423 registered users telling them about it so there may be a few more than 50 and I'd like to try and get some local companies to sponsor it (i.e. put some money behind the bar and buy a cake). Any thoughts, ideas and suggestions gratefully accepted.

Hello all... just wanted to say it was my 1st outing to the EDF drinks on Friday night - and I was tad nervous about meeting you - however my fears were unfounded as I thought you were all lovely! Thanks for making me feel welcome - I had a really great evening :))

Have marked the 21 Septemeber in my diary - and look forward to seeing you there again - if not before!

PS The Jerk Chicken Cook Of in Horniman Gardens yesterday - if you missed it - you missed out - Deeee-licious!

Glad you enjoyed. It was a lovely evening, and like everyone it was just a pity i couldn't talk to everyone (too much time poking my camera in people's faces).

ps, AllyCat, just checked out that thread, it must have dropped off my radar. How did you get on with the new telly? Did the stress of it cause biscuit overload?

Sorry I wasn't there. Trying to lay off the booze and I knew if I popped in for a 'cola' I'd be hammered and waking up on the floor of my lounge the next day; as I pretty much was the last time I went to EDF drinks.

The pics are fab Mockers.

There's always another forum drinks, I'll make it up next time with Mr MW74 in toe (after cunningly tricking him first, of course) B)

    • This problem has been going on since before Covid due to the closure of the Dulwich sorting office. The local MP Ellie Reeves is aware and has written to the Post Office. They give the same generic responses about 'temporary' staffing issues. Would encourage people to email Ellie Reeves. It's about time this was finally resolved!
    • Sorry to hear you are having issues. Fwiw, we received a regular letter this week. Maybe it's worth asking at the Dulwich delivery office (it's in West Dulwich, though. Their phone number is 03457740740) to see if there are aware of any issues in your particular area?  I've seen cases in the past were the a particular postie was sick and they didn't cover for them, they just let everything accumulate for a couple of days until the person was back.
    • Mal, it is related to this issue and if you scroll back a few pages you will see that Brockwell was brought up in relation to this (not by me I hasten to add). Do you not think it seems perfectly reasonable for people to be able to reference a neighbouring event - one that is having a number of challenges not too dissimilar to the ones Gala is having?     These sentences from the BrixtonBuzz article I linked seem very pertinent too:  The concern, they argue, is not just about permits, but about the Council’s repeated failure to follow proper planning processes and its habit of acting in the interests of commercial promoters rather than the local community.   And this: The group is now calling on residents to write to their local MP and councillors, accusing the Council of using legal mechanisms to avoid scrutiny.
    • Mal, like it or not, it does have some bearing on other councils. There was an item about it on Times Radio on Sunday - Kate Borsay, a presenter who lives locally, referenced Peckham Rye in relation to the Brockwell case. As the reporter pointed out, local councils will all be talking to each other and closely following how things unfold. If a precedent is set with Brockwell, other councils will be under greater scrutiny.
