6th form - best schools for art/design?

Which schools have the best facilities/teaching for 6th formers who want to take A levels in Art and Design Technology? Our son is happy at his current school but the art department seems fairly traditional and doesn't have the best facilities, same with DT. We want to check out all options within a reasonable distance so any recommendations from students, parents or teachers would be great!

Charter School has a very strong art department

We have been very impressed with the art department at Charter - both my two are doing art GCSE there at the moment and one is going on to do art A-level there - the other is going to do photography.

Have you looked at the BRIT school, Selhurst. They take pupils from all over London and I know of someone here in East Dulwich who studies there. They have a very strong Art & Design department, although most people associate the school with music as they have a lot of Record Co. sponsors.

We are also thinking of moving our son for 6th form - he's in year 10 at the moment. Brit school sounds interesting! Do a lot of pupils move schools at this stage?

The BRIT School is for ages 14+ so I imagine lots of people transfer there after GCSEs. I teach two pupils there who absolutely love it.

From what I understand the Sixth form at Forest Hill Boys (mixed) get calls from the RCA asking what students they have for them each year because of their high standards of teaching. Worth checking out.

That's a bit strange as the RCA is a post grad college - students must have completed a BA before going through a rigorous selection proceedure!!

Must have got the wrong college. It was a couple of years ago I heard that, that's why I suggested you check it out.
