legalbeagle
Please, I'm not joking! I have been a wierdo magnet in the past but not actually stalked. And really, I genuinely am not even the tiniest bit brave. It's pathetic, but it's true. Cassius
I had a stalker a few years ago - luckily he was not the brightest and gave me his phone number so when he called to tell me he was watching me I could tell from the land line number that actually he was several miles away! londonloves
LegalEagle-ish -You should still report them, just in case. You may not be the first or last person they stalk and stalker behaviour usually escalates. If they leave you alone it may just be because some other poor beggar has their attention. Better to waste a few mins of your time reporting it than to regret it later. Changing the subject from stalkers to unwanted admirers-they are much better, less scary and they give up quicker whilst providing a tempoary confidence boost! In my skinnier, younger days I'd have one unwanted admirer a week getting hold of my number from mates and gushing down the phone, I found changing the topic of conversation to Star trek and or Prog rock soon got rid....although there was one who found that was a positive bonus.... giggirl
The reason I followed through with my stalkers and went to the courts to get them prosecuted was that I knew that they had done it before and, if not challenged, would do it again. One of the pair was a trainee solicitor so a criminal record did not go down well. I don't want to go into detail but, suffice to say, these were a couple of really sick individuals and I'm glad they were prosecuted. I don't like bullies and I'm glad I wasn't the push-over they thought I would be. Jah Lush
I had one when I was in my mid-20s. It went on for two years. She was a complete pain the arse and it was a bit scary but it's really not something I would want to talk about at length on a public forum. ClareC
I feel left out now......... and slightly disurbed by how common this seems to be!!I had a lad used to stand outside the shop I worked in for my Saturday job when I was 16..... never found it intimidating just thought him a bit odd!! I am ashamed to say I used to accept a lift back home from him each week since it saved the bus fare and was much quicker!?!?!? In hindsight not the best of moves! In my defence he was a friend of my cousins so I did know him! Annasfield
Actually, I've just remembered I sort of had one once too. I was living at home with my Dad and he'd decided to move house but stay in the same town. The fella who was buying the house off him has been round a few times but I was rarely in. What night he came round and when he saw me was quite startled, grinned and then said "oh, I didn't realise you lived here". He was moving in with his wife and kids. I used to work part-time in a pub for some extra cash and he'd often turn up when I was working there. I sort of knew him (small town and everyone knew everyone in some shape or form) so was just polite. He'd say stuff about my old bedroom, which freaked me out a bit to honest. One night I was leaving work and got in my car in the car park and as I was about to the shut the door, a voice came out of the car next to mine "hello Anna!" Scared the life out of me! It was him waiting for me to finish work. Came out with all sorts of odd stuff about how he'd love to cut my hair. Drove home sharpish. I never felt threatened by him, but he was odd. As I have said before, if there is a village missing their idiot, he/she will find me. woofmarkthedog
I... Had a phone stalker once...Way back in the days when phones were tied into houses by wires ( remember those )My phone would ring at random times & the conversation would go something like this ( at first )Me. "Hello.......hello...h e l l o.."Stalker.Me. "Hello....heeeellllllooooo.."Stalker.Me. "Hel.....OK so you've got me to answer the phone & you've heard my voice, what now ? "Stalker.Me. " I am putting the phone down "Now, I was married then & sometimes my wife ( yes the the one of " Eastenders ladygarden " fame....) would answer. She being made of sterner stuff would berate the caller and offer her opinions as to their state of mind. This went on for quite a while and became part of the pattern of our lives however , our responses changed somewhat. I think we really quite enjoyed the invasion, it actually became a bizarre form of entertainment. One evening I came in to find my then wife with the receiver on the kitchen floor, her feet close to it & doing a tap dance of sorts. "Who's that" I mouthed"The stalker" she whispered.I rolled my eyes. Did I imagine this was a part of "normal" married life No, not really !W**F Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/10234-stalkers-you-havent-arrived-until-youve-got-one/page/2/#findComment-302769 Share on other sites
