Oh it's so horrible isn't it. We used k&o pest control. They were good. They also have a shop in penge- if it happened again I would just go to the shop next time and get loads of poison and bait boxes and put them all over the place. That's what they did and it worked within two weeks.

I tried everything - including K&O and also the plug in. Nothing worked permanently. The exterminator recommended getting a cat as the best possible permanent solution. I like cats but my partner had never been that keen but feeling downtrodden with the mice and hearing the recommendation from the professional he agreed and off we went to Battersea.

BEST THING WE EVER DID - the cat caught a mouse in her first week! Her scent and prowling of the flat is clearly a deterrent and we haven't seen any sign of mice since her first kill so it's a pretty humane solution (except for her first victim but at least it was a natural death - hopefully over fairly quickly). Partner has been won round and likes the cat and our son is happy to have a pet. There was an item about the Foreign Office adopting a cat and apparently many old government buildings have cats because they are the best and most effective pest control/mouse deterrent there is.

    • I had not realised your photographs were of the road I live in - which I must admit I do not recognize. I had though they were not Underhill Road  but elsewhere. Apologies. I had thought I was writing of my own experiences in Underhill Road but obviously I don't know my own streets. When the men I watch tip rubbish into their lorries they do not seem to spill out into the road, but obviously my eyes aren't good enough to see this.
    • It was around New Year 2023; I had walked my dog past the exact spot late that evening before it happened. There were a lot of cars in Straker's Road that night playing loud music. "Roadmen" Alice. We all know who they are but you are daring, through the use of public shaming and ostracism, people to declare something you already know. Tut tut Alice, white boys also affect a Roadman persona. There was a statistic I read on a council advert at a bus stop in Lambeth, it said "99% of young people in Lambeth have never been in trouble with the police". We all know 99% of the 1% are Roadmen so lets not pretend any further.
    • “Peckham rye is a very safe place to be” was someone not murdered for a phone a few years back, also daily muggings happening at the park if you look outside of you bubble
    • Is that your comment; people shouldn't overfill their bins? Nobody does. All those bins had lids closed. The problem is when they open them and the bin tips into the lorry and half a dozen pieces of litter fall to the floor. Are you actually denying photographic evidence?
