SeanMacGabhann
absolutelyAlthough I think the talent has known for a while and is already off (Jon Richardson a particular case in point for me)It's been coming this decision but still hacks me off - for the price of Moyle's lunch, a whole station playing the stuff that people normally had to wait until 8pm forbah humbug Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/10195-bye-bye-6-music/#findComment-301399 Share on other sites

PeckhamRose
If BBC 6 music goes will they fill in the number gap by making 7 into 6?!I often listen to BBC6 in the afternoons but now will just stick with good ol Planet Rock! skidmarks
I?m going to miss it, good music, no adverts, no Chris Moyles, no Chris Evans and no Steve Wright with his bloody factoids. SeanMacGabhann
although it did have George Lamb. It wasn't perfect by any meansBut it was(is) still head and shoulders above any other music station. If I could listen to the likes of Guy Garvey, Tom Robinson, Mark Radcliffe somewhere else I would so so - but I can't so the once thing the BBC does well (and cheaply) is now gone Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/10195-bye-bye-6-music/#findComment-302266 Share on other sites

Ant
It's not necessarily a done deal. If enough people contact [email protected] over the next 12 weeks and make their opinions known to the BBC Trust, there's still a chance they may reverse the decision. titch juicy
StraferJack Wrote:-------------------------------------------------------> 6 music had more than 2 million listeners for the> first time this week> > Pretty impressive turnaroundI'd be interested to know if the daytime music policy is as it always was and not been dumbed down- for want of a better phrase. I know that there are a few ex- Radio 1 DJs on the station. I only ever tend to listen in the evenings or on a sunday, and that is as it always has been. StraferJack
apparently Steve Lamacq is most listened to station, so dumbing down teh playlist not relaly necessary I would have thoughtHard to believe now but there was a time when Radio 1 didn't necessarily mean dumbing down Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/10195-bye-bye-6-music/#findComment-820699 Share on other sites

titch juicy
Radio 1 always had a handful of decent shows- but generally at indecent times. I catch the end of Steve Lamacq sometimes before Mark Riley's show, and he still thinks he's doing the evening session from Radio 1- it's devoid of anything remotely interesting. But, if it means the station survives long-term then so be it.I find that if you don't listen before 7pm, except on Sundays, then you can't go wrong. Although, i've always had a weakness for Lauren Laverne, but have never really listened to her show.I find that listening to Marc Riley, Tom Robinson, Gideon Coe, Tom Ravenscroft, Stuart Maconie's Freakzone, Cerys Matthews, Jarvis Cocker (is he still on?), Huey Morgan (most of the time), Craig Charles, Iggy (but I think he's gone now) is guaranteed to enhance your life.
