Bookish! The Dairy Book of Family Cookery and Tales Of The Unexpected tonight 7.30pm at Rye Books!

Recommended Posts

Bookish is a brand new project by theatre makers and performers Laura Mugridge and Tom Adams. It's five books, each inspired by a different book.

As part of the development of the project, they are offering customers of Rye Books an opportunity to see the first two shows, The Dairy Book of Family Cookery and Tales Of The Unexpected, both contain live, original music and brand new stories.

The Dairy Book Of Family Cookery.

Laura and Tom look at the classic 1983 recipe book, they both had it in their houses growing up, so made a sweeping generalisation that everyone did. The show will include an interview with the photographer of the meals, a report of when Laura and Tom went to a diary and and a blow by blow account of when Laura did a dinner party with only meals from the book.

Tales Of The Unexpected- Roald Dahl

This collection of short stories is dark, funny and, well, unexpected. Research so far has included bees, tattoos and taxidermy. Tom has also looked into what makes a good short story, and where Roald Dahl went for inspiration.

Come along on 7th April at 7.30pm to see these two mini shows by two award winning performers. There may even be wine, there'll definitely be a cake.
