Can anyone recommend any software programmes that would prevent a small child stumbling into unsuitable websites? I do keep an eye on what he's doing online, but I was briefly out of the room and he was on Club Penguin when I left and he was on Youtube when I got back, fortunately only looking at Club Penguin related areas. But he's realised you can tap a word in eg his surname and find interesting things, so I imagine it won't be long until he thinks of putting rude words in. Any suggestions?

Have you got Windows? A lot of computers come with Windows Parental Controls, so you can set up a username for the kids and set up the websites they can or can't access. You can also view their activity.

Anything really rude, adult, etc on YouTube should require you to have an account and sign in, confirming you're over 18. Then again, there might still be content you wouldn't want your child looking at that doesn't fit this.

Also, your Internet service provider may provide parental controls - AOL has very strict/safe ones.
