The fish might be OK, but the chips are absolute shite.

Sorry to say this, as the guy who runs Emily's is a sweetie.

No, they aren't.

I've never had any food approaching what I would call "excellent" at the Herne, in fact quite the opposite.

And yes, I've been both for Sunday lunch and in the Summer.

Apart from the fact that it has a kids' playground, which is good if you have small kids, I can't understand what anybody sees in the Herne, frankly.

Sammy Youssef, He's still around. retired. Sometimes eats at Si Mangia Nice Chap. - Did a nice breakfast. He owned Thistles on Lordship Lane too - Now Le Chardon. He ate my starter once when he was sitting at the bar - but I forgave him.

He was trained as a Chef in the West End I believe. He had a serious accident on his motorbike driving between restaurants on Lordship Lane and FH Road. Had to scale things down.

Edited for Accuracy.

Whoever owns the yellow and blue place I do wish they'd let someone run a business from it, as I'm sure the right thing would do well - as it is it's just an eyesore.

I'm a big fan of Si M as a good local Italian resto.

The Herne - never had the food, love the decor, the garden's not up to much, the beer's far too pricey.
