erikaa
I'm a full time student and last week I decided to quit my restaurant job.It was irresponsible of me but it was also a very spontaneus decision which I don't regret. Now I have to do my best not to end up in another restaurant, and I was told that you don't necessarily need experience to be a Data Entry Clerk, and it is fairly easy to find part time positions... Is it true? Who knows?Or can anyone advise me on any kind of work that i can do part time, and that does not involve serving food or drinks? Thanks. mockney piers
Just go to any temping agency. Be warned, I did that to save money for my first move to London; the words crushing and spirit spring to mind.Good luck in your endeavours however. Bluerevolution
most temp agencies are still not taking any new candidates- have a look at www.secsinthecity.com or www.reed.co.uk I get daily updates and have applied for eight jobs this week alone. Good luck and keep smiling Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/10018-how-do-i-find-a-data-entry-job/#findComment-297188 Share on other sites
mockney piers
Sorry. Poor advice. Haven't been temping in 14 years. My bad. How about finding a nice pub or restaurant. Doesn't the EDT have a notice in the window? Atila Reincarnate
Monster.com and Totaljobs send me daily updates, worth checking out. In my experience persistence pays off, just keep plugging away. Smeltz
Do you really want to be a data entry clerk? Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/10018-how-do-i-find-a-data-entry-job/#findComment-298190 Share on other sites
erikaa
Well it's not what I want to do in life, but I need a part time job whilst I complete my Applied Translation degree...I've been in London for 6 years and I have always worked in hospitality... I had enough!I'm looking for a change. Data Entry is not the only thing I'm looking for though. Why, is it that bad? Smeltz
Would have thought it being a little repettitive and sort of boring in comparison to a customer service/facing role where each day is different. From personal experience I can say would be quite a change from the sort of thing you would have already been doing. erikaa
I know... It is a little scary as I'm used to interacting with a lot of people every day- both colleagues and customers- but I thought it could be an interesting change where I could improve my organisational skills...I am mainly looking for reception work, which is also something I could do part-time.And this is my last week-end at my current job so I have to hurry too! Thanks for your advice! Smeltz
Reception work would, I think, be more suited to you as there is plenty of interaction with people of all levels. Sometimes a complete change can be a big shock to the system.I remember many years ago I moved from a large company to one that was very small in terms of customers, work load and busyness. It took me a long time to get used to it.good luck in your search Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/10018-how-do-i-find-a-data-entry-job/#findComment-298222 Share on other sites
Moos
Having done lots of bar work, waitressing and admin jobs when in a similar position to Erika, I'd choose the admin office stuff any time. It's cleaner, easier, better paid and means you can spend your evenings socialising rather than serving other people while they socialising. It is really, really dull, but there are generally people around to chat to.hope you find something soon, erika! jimmy two times
I saw a job advertised on Monster.com for 'Domestic Violence Co-Ordinator'. Surely this type of thing should be stopped rather then choreographed?
