  10. I saw this in an arts bulletin I get then had a look on Southwark's website: A new event for South Southwark Expressions of Interest Southwark Events are working with a partnership group with representatives from local organisations to create a new outdoor showcase. Something unique, something innovative, something that challenges and something that is fun. Southwark Events are interested to hear from artists of all disciplines including various forms of visual arts such as sculpture, carnival, crafts, costume, design, architecture, film etc. with ideas for projects to be part of an outdoor community arts showcase to take place in Spring 2013 involving communities from south Southwark. Where is south Southwark? In terms of this project south Southwark is designated as the three wards of East Dulwich, Village and College. Further information about the area can be found on our Dulwich community page and on the following websites: Dulwich OnView The Dulwich Society Dulwich on Wikipedia East Dulwich on Wikipedia Kingswood Community What is the event? The format of the final event is not yet fixed, but it will showcase the final pieces/installations/parades/trails in spring 2013, promoted as a series of experiences for both the local community and the wider Southwark and London population. What are we looking for? We are keen to invite expressions of interest from artists with ideas for projects which encompass the theme of 'London Life' celebrating the diversity, energy and colour of our home city, but also inspired by south Southwark as described above, its people and its heritage. At this stage we are looking for proposals that demonstrate: Inspiring, innovative and creative ideas Community involvement at the heart of the project A commitment to accessibility Quality and excellence The project will include of a programme of inclusive workshops in the local area. The workshops will be open to community and youth groups, businesses and individuals. The work created must culminate in a live outdoor showcase event. It has not yet been decided what form the final showcase would take but ideas that have been discussed include: A parade A trail An outdoor exhibition; or A combination of all of the above The venue(s) for the showcase has not yet been identified but should be in a park or public space, should be sympathetic to and appropriate for the site and its environs. The key element is that commissioned artists will work with local groups and individuals. It may be that there are a few smaller projects and the participants of which come together for a final celebratory type event, whether this is a festival, parade, exhibition or other event. Alternatively it may be one company that works on one larger project working with many groups across the wards and produces the final event. Budget Proposals are invited for projects with a budget of up to ?25K. ?25K is the full budget, but we are undecided as to whether there will be several smaller projects, some medium-sized ones or one or two larger projects. You are welcome to submit proposals for versions of the same project on different scales and therefore with different budgets. The budget of ?25K is for the whole project, including base level infrastructure and production costs. Southwark Events will support the commissioned artist(s) throughout the project. We will manage the production of the final event, delivering it safely but will ensure that the creative lead is taken by the selected artist(s).
