  1. hi, re the police. I have contacted the SNT too and they claim to have no knowledge of, or information about, this attack. I wonder what is going on. If anyone else wants to try the e mail is [email protected]
  2. Any updates from the SNT? I would suggest that you also report this to the Southwark Anti Social Behaviour Unit. There may well be grounds for an ASBO. This would mean that the owner could be banned from bringing the dog to the park. Give the unit a call on 0207 525 5777. I hope that Woody is continuing to recover.
  3. Another four benches have now been stolen. This happened on monday night. They were the brand new benches out on the common. Please be vigilant and report anything suspicious to the police immediately. Apparently the thieves are now so brazen that they will just stick a high viz jacket on to make people think that they are working for the council and then just steal what they want. If you feel safe enough and see someone removing a bench ask them for some form of identity or make a note of the vehicle registration and report it to the police. Council workers will be uniformed and in marked council vehicles. Contractors working for the council should be able to produce proof of this. If in doubt, call it in. Please help if you can.
  4. The metal benches were removed (not stolen!) as they were quite worn and didn't look great. There are no plans to replace these with wooden ones. The cafe has purchased more v heavy duty picnic benches that are on the grassed bit at the side of the cafe. The idea really is to try and contain the bulk of the cafe users in the cafe and at the area to the side and not on the common to the front. This also helps with the litter. Of course people will buy coffee/ice cream etc and go onto the common or into the park, but they are unlikely to be carting full meals around with them!
  5. Unfortunately reetpetite is correct. Those benches have been stolen. The other ones on the common are brand new. This seems to be part of a spate of thefts in the area. The allotment owners at one tree hill have had sheds (!) and other equipment stolen as well. Please be vigilant and report anyone trying to sell any of the above to you from 'the back of a van' etc to the police. The police have been informed of all these latest criminal acts. thanks
  6. Someone has been stealing plants from the oval and the sexby garden. One of the plants from the sexby garden was memorial rosebush and the people that donated it are very upset. The other plants go to make up the display at the oval. Please keep your eyes open and tell anyone that you see stealing them not to! thanks.
