  1. I can't believe you're still 'buying stuff' Nette, that's sooo 20th century. What you need is a ZCorp 650 in the cupboard under the stairs. If you fancy something a little more Heath Robinson you can build an open source one called RepRap for free, which can then replicate itself.
  2. Unless he was just referring to the Harrods branch. Ooops cross posted with Nette there and now there's a loud whooshing noise in my ears.
  3. The site Thomas linked to re:Hitler reproduced the entry on this subject from the QI book pretty much word for word. The QI Forum has a lot more on the subject.
  4. Given that this is what we are capable of can someone explain why we are still fascinated by burning piles of wood. Hyper Facade Berlin Incidentally if you want to recreate this on your house in ED, they mapped the facade of a real building in Berlin, then created a virtual image of it, then put the real building in darkness and projected the virtual image onto it along with computer effects. Honestly it's about an afternoons work and about ?50, your kids will think you're so cool.
  5. Resonance FM 104.4. The sublime to the ridiculous.
  6. New mother, if you don't know what is referred to by 'person centred planning', and I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you don't, then perhaps you should google it before expressing your ignorance.
  7. Awkward grammar appals a craftsman. A Dada bard as daft as Tzara damns stagnant art and scrawls an alpha (a slapdash arc and a backward zag) that mars all stanzas and jams all ballads (what a scandal). A madcap vandal crafts a small black ankh - a hand- stamp that can stamp a wax pad and at last plant a mark that sparks an ars magna (an abstract art that charts a phrasal diagram). A pagan skald chants a dark saga (a Mahabharata), as a papal cabal blackballs all annals and tracts, all dramas and psalms: Kant and Kafka, Marx and Marat. A law as harsh as a fatwa bans all paragraphs that lack an A as a standard hallmark. Christian B?k
  8. I would have thought the police were the best people to ring, on a non emergency number obviously.

    Whisky Tips

It always surprises me how popular the islays are whenever this comes up on here. Personally I'm more of a speyside fan, my favourite of which so far, is a 16 year old Ben Riach matured in Sauturnes barrels.

    Cooking Steak

Ok, just to scratch my pedantry itch, searing does not seal anything, it's done for taste and texture not juiciness. Should you sear steak?
  11. *whispers* It was Waitrose
  12. Nette, Whilst driving through Sussex the other day I happened by The Weald Smokery, down by Bewl Water. I stopped off for a quick look round what was a lovely little shop with its own smokery out the back. You can get a guided a tour if you fancy seeing how the pros do it.

    Occupy London

They're not targeting St Pauls as such they just wanted to congregate in Paternoster Square. As of yesterday they've also occupied Finsbury Sq. The whole thing is actually Occupy the London Stock Exchange so Goldman Sachs and Canary Wharf being outside the square mile are not as appropriate I suppose. Canary Wharf might be more relevant for a protest aimed at banks, but isn't it private property? Occupy the London Stock Exchange
  14. New Zealand acquitted themselves far better throughout the tournament than France. As to who were the best team on the day, that would be the team who scored the most points, the sole objective of the game. If you have the majority of territory and or possession and don't score the most points you are not the best team.
  15. The same establishment that was happy to see Saddam Hussein and Hosni Mubarak go on trial or a different establishment with even darker secrets and better trained ninjas?
  16. Whose "they" and why not?
  17. After this weekends performances I really don't think the French have a hope in hell. I know all the chat about you never know who's going to turn up with them, but I wouldn't give them 30/1. PS Is there anywhere in ED that sells chocolate hats, just in case?
  18. Huguenot, the Action Aid report points out that it's the SMEs having to make up the shortfall. An example of who's currently getting the support here. Only half the people in this country have pensions. The number one reason given for not having one is affordability. Full rate pension contribution tax relief is enough of a subsidy from the poor to the rich. Does the government have better things to do with the money? Yes, of course it does.
  19. Quite agree with AM. The ref didn't miss those kicks. I've been trying to find the rules on red cards in these circumstances and came across a memorandum issued in Feb on dangerous tackles on the IRB website, referring to high tackles specifically, but mentioning tip tackles. Given tip tackles are more dangerous, Ed Morrison's comment is not surprising.
  20. I was rather surprised by the reviews for drive. It's like a cross between a Sergio Leone western and a cult B movie from the eighties that somehow didn't get released until 2011, with some of the most shocking violence I can remember. No doubt a big hit with teenage boys.
  21. 17. I hope that's a big spare room.
  22. Bear in mind when the change over happens the digital signal will be strengthened so almost everyone will get freeview. There is a small possibility he will need freesat, but unlikely, all you need to know is on the site linked to by Alan Medic above.
  23. "Can you imagine the kerfuffle if it was a male making such a comment?" Depends on the man. If it was Gok Wan, no, if it was David Cameron, yes and everybody else somewhere on a scale between the two. I think most people would just think there's that fashion pr/women's fashion retailer trying to sell more women's fashion and that's it.
  24. Not really Jeremy. A commercial investor will expect at least a 7% yield. Assuming ?600 per room, which I would say is high end for Ed, that would value a 2 bed flat at just over 200k and a 3 bed house at just over 300k. Where in ed can you get those prices?
