Pneumatic drill on a Friday night??

A gas leak requiring evacuation seems like an emergency to me -

Exactly, Southwark Council are doing the right thing -
Poo in the Park (and on the streets)

From my own observations though it is those who were around 40 years ago who are not picking up. Not saying that everyone who was around 40 years ago do not pick up! -
Poo in the Park (and on the streets)

I had assumed that the gutter weeds/wild flowers were due to the council stopping spraying, for environmental and/or rewilding reasons? I’ve see them being removed recently with a hand held hoe-like tool -
I agree. One time I’d been given a quote for some further tests but decided not to go ahead. I later received a statement saying I owed that amount which I queried and the amount cancelled. Again, I don’t think the error was intentional but I always carefully check the receipt which they email to me. BTW the further tests suggested proved unnecessary.

Views on GPs 306 lordship vs Tessa Jowell centre
Jenijenjen replied to Ee's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Happy to be corrected but I believe SELDOC and the GP surgery at TJ are separate entities and provide different services. SELDOC provide out of hours services and were previously based in Dulwich Hospital whereas the GP surgery was formerly in Melbourne Grove. Edit: also South East London CCG do not “run” the GP surgery:a clinical commissioning group is, or was, an NHS body responsible for ensuring the health needs of an area are provided. The CCGs were replaced in July by Integrated Care Boards. -
Rye Lane buses again: Consultation open on one way option
Jenijenjen replied to IainJ's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Once more, people do not vote in a consultation. You are undermining your stance by repeating this misinformation. It is also considered rude to use capital letters. -
Rye Lane buses again: Consultation open on one way option
Jenijenjen replied to IainJ's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Network Rail see above) have given a very good succinct, unemotional and to the point response. I would suggest those who oppose a one way Rye Lane, as do I, use this as a template. The point of a consultation is for the public and statutory bodies to draw attention to matters that may have been overlooked that will have an impact, not to merely say yay or nay. Edited to correct error that quoted TFL which should have been Network Rail. -

It’s not a referendum so expressing your views in the consultation believing you’re voting will lead to disappointment. -
This is such sad news, they have the largest selection of all the local garden centres. I wish them all the best for the future.

Thanks Joe. Now able to access the Twitter account and glad to learn there won’t be a rebranding. Regarding the last post issue, have discovered I can see it if I orientate ipad to portrait but not if I use it landscape. With the latter I get the ad column to the right which I don’t with portrait.

Great stuff, Joe. Two things: 1. On my ipad unable to see the last post message 2. Unable to connect with the Twitter account, I get the message “something went wrong.” Also wondering why it’s @TheDulwich and not @TheEastDulwich or is this the first step in formally integrating the different parts of Dulwich? Would prefer that East Dulwich Forum maintains a separate identity

Foxy - sorry to learn you’re going through this. I don’t have any advice, just wishing you well.

Lidl (Peckham) closed for 3 months
Jenijenjen replied to Twoddle's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I think it was at the end of May. The lease came to an end and the new rent asked was too high -
Also the jumble of e scooters left outside superdrug which often extends well into the middle of the pavement creating a trip hazard for pedestrians and an obstruction for wheelchair users and push-chairs. When the pavement was widened a few years ago, the reason was to make things easier for pedestrians but now the situation is far worse.

East Dulwich Barclays to close on December 2nd
Jenijenjen replied to Bic Basher's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I’m old too and agree with Sue. It seems whenever changes are proposed that (younger) people don’t like, the cry goes out “Won’t somebody think of the old people.” The group that calls themselves Age Speaks are a particular bugbear - they don’t speak for me. “For me, I recently got sent a refund cheque which sat there for 6 weeks till I had justification to go to a centre where my bank branch was as the costs associated with travelling (be it bus or car) made it expensive to deposit a small cheque.” Could you not have popped it in the post with a paying in slip having taken a photo of it beforehand? -
Just got my renewal documents through with an increase of 14% which I thought was steep, 30% is horrific. Reasons I was given for increase were: 1) The amount of cover has been uplifted by 9.5% to keep in line with inflation (last year it was uplifted by 2.5%) to cover increased cost and shortage of building materials and lack of skilled labour due to Brexit and Covid. 2) General “hardening” of the insurance industry. Do you get your insurance through a broker? On the bright side, I’ve heard contents insurance is going down,

Royal Mail van ferrying kids to school

“If so, how would you feel if you smelt alcohol on the breath of your pilot?” I am unable to see any connection this question has with the matter you have posted on. -

Should I see this happening, I have absolutely no intention of reporting it to anyone. -
This is from council website “ This page includes household waste collection service updates for summer 2022. We are expecting some periods of extremely hot weather, and this may affect household waste collection services. This may include: “Our crews will start work earlier on days when very hot weather is expected. This helps ensure work is completed before the hottest periods of the day. The hotter weather can slow down working speeds, and this may mean that not all collections are complete on the normal days. We expect to catch up any outstanding collections on the following working day. Almost all collections are being completed normally, and any late collections will be prioritised for the following day, so any delay should be less than 24 hours. “If your collection is delayed, please ensure that your bin or bagged waste is left in the usual collection location ready for the crew. You do not need to report your collection as missed if it has been notified as delayed. If it is still outstanding by the following day, you can report a missed collection.” My household waste has been collected, keeping fingers crossed for food recycling though I agree it must be horrible for them in this weather and wouldn’t be surprised if it isn’t collected until tomorrow

This is what the tweet in question says: “ Drivers are frequently ignoring the very clear signage, creating a risk of collision that didn’t exist with physical filters. We urge @lb_southwark to resolve the safety problems with the interim layout urgently before someone is seriously injured or killed.” I don’t see how that can be interpreted as a campaign “to remove the emergency access at Calton” but then Rockets is a master at reading meaning into messages that just isn’t there.

I’m on an iPad. Is it different- can you screenshot it pls? I’m unable to post a screenshot but I think you may need to be using the iPad as landscape ?
