  1. Hi everyone, Unfortunately one of my teenagers is struggling with their mental health at the moment. I've known for years that our current GP practice is pretty rubbish, but lucky for us we haven't been ill very much, so it hasn't mattered! Looking to move now, and hopefully to somewhere where there is a least one permanent doctor with an interest in adolescent mental health. Anyone got any recommendations? A doctor who will listen to my child, and not just say, "we don't deal with that." thanks in advance! JessM
  2. Any news?! Would love to join!
  3. Sorry everyone I’m probably being a wally but can anyone help? If I’m reading a thread and I want to go back to list of threads how do I do it? Im always going back to the top menu,,, discussion/lounge/family room etc If I’m in “General Issues” how do I go back to this list of “general issues” posts? Ideally to where I was in the list before I clicked on a thread? TIA Jess
  4. Woodfall optician on Lordship Lane take daily contact lenses and packaging (No need for appointment)
  5. Yes, depending also on what you eat and drink.
  6. Just checked on eBay. Could not find any post listed!
  7. These signs are not specific enough, and too far from the timed restrictions they are warning of. There is one on Lordship Lane too, near the Court Lane junction.
  8. Woodfalls on Lordship lane collect lenses and packages for recycling What happens to them after that, I have no idea Like all our recycling
  9. This is a perfect A level maths question...hypothesis testing anyone??
  10. Our son did them (mostly with my heroic husband) on Saturday mornings from when he was just over 2 and he could swim by the time he was 3. Admittedly mostly underwater with his mouth open like a whale but his style refined quite quickly! Not all the kids could, but ours was keen!
  11. To the kind ?lady? that helped my son (and husband) when he had a nosebleed this morning on Lordship Lane. It was very kind of you to stop your morning rush to help them. I hope you weren?t late for work! Thanks so much - it is lovely to know there are people so willing to help a stranger. Jess
  12. State schools provide all necessary text books. Occasionally they may sell additional material, eg revision guides, that are optional. They do this to help parents with choosing what extra to get if they want them, and the school will pass on its bulk buying discount making it cheaper for the parents. If you have school textbook you have to give it back: it remains property of the school. At private schools, it varies. Some do exactly the same as state, some require pupils to buy their own. Sometimes a school may ask for a refundable book deposit to make sure they get their books back, or they may charge if a book is not returned.
  13. We gave our wonderful nanny an extra ?1 an hour after a year. She is great. however I won't be able to match that year on year on year!
  14. Sorry aguacate I can't help you, but just thought I would mention that I was an "observee" for someone on a similar course when my youngest was a baby (he's 3 now! How time flies!). It wasn't at all onerous, in fact I quite liked it because it gave me a weekly opportunity to notice what was new since the previous week. So if you read the OP and think it sounds weird, it's not!
  15. Which one do you need? I've got the brown one with pink stripes, about 20cm tall. If it's that one let me know and it's yours.
  16. Hawkins bazaar (the one I went to was at Westfield Stratford) do some good cheap stuff. Plus, I went to the till with 12 polystyrene aeroplane kits, they were about 65p each I think. the clerk asked if it was for party bags and I said yes. She then gave me, for free, 12 loot bags, 12 balloons and 12 mini packets of haribo as well! Don't know if that's an offer that's always on or if I was lucky, but it might be worth finding out!!
  17. Don't know but would love to find out!
  18. It was really loud. If you are reading this and it was your party, please consider silent disco as your next theme.
  19. Hi everyone, Is there anyone else out there with a child who will be starting morning nursery at Herne Hill School in September? And if so, would you like to meet up before they start? If so, please PM me. Cheers, Jess
  20. Get as big as will fit! We have 10ft, our kids are 6, 4 and 2 Best money we ever spent!
  21. I have more than halved the amount of powder I put in since we got our Miele. I Use Fairy powder, about 1.1/2 cm of powder in the jug thing that came from fairy. (Box says more like 6)
  22. If your niece seems to like being with your kids in a nurturing way, go to the library together. She might enjoy revisiting books from when she was younger with her cousins
  23. Underneath it all, I always feel like a mum while I'm at work, but I hardly even think about work when I'm "mumming." Perhaps that just means I'm a bad employee!!!
  24. Don't forget the people who agree a price in advance, then turn up and want to haggle. Annoying and IMO rude.
  25. Should they ride in the road?
