And I object to be confronted by an over excited school prefect with a fawning attitude and a cowboy hat. Now as i was saying this seeping Gerrymandering has to stop.
-
Utterly utterly dreadful - puts that ridciculous "Housing immigrants and queue jumping" and the even more stupid "Steve T and Tone whatever should be banned" thread into perspective.

I think we may be getting ID cards on this blog ! now i am someone else, even though i am not really the someone who i am posting under, blimey now i am confused ! Thanks for that S, very interesting, i have started another thread.

We were discussing the reasons for this War in another thread, so i thought we should start a fresh one. Is it a war ? according to Britain's Chief of Defence Staff, Sir Jock Stirrup it's the following; "The mission in Afghanistan is about supporting the delivery of governance in order to reduce the opportunities for extremist terrorist groups who are a direct threat to the United Kingdom, its citizens and their interests," It seems to me that there are too many political issues swirling around the troops who are out there; they have had 7years to plan this now and armoured vehicles and helicopters are only just on there way ? It seems they are trying to keep it, the mission, low profile, that they do not want to get drawn in like the Russians. As far as I can see they have only pushed the problem into Pakistan. The Taliban just seem to have longer to walk now.

This forum seems to be inhabited by some odd types, people's republic ? or are people miss posting ? Anyway ...that's interesting S, i was joking about the tanks, it was really a reference to the light skinned vehicles that are being driven around in Afganistan, however a lot of the deaths seem to be occuring while out on foot patrol.... "were you really told your mission was to capture Bin Laden ? " actually maybe a new thread -
-
I thought we were ? does this not constitute war, is it just an excurision or something then, maybe that's why they are driving around in light armour, it not really a war , may be they did not tick all the boxes back at the treasury. Question 1. Will you or any one else in your regiment be travelling around in a Tank, if not go straight to section C.

Yes i thought well reported too, I am just slightly uneasy about the chioce of headline, smacks of propoganda to me but then i suppose we are at WAR.
-
oh and as for "the only" , I think you may need to read a bit more.
-
er.......i "showed up" as you put it a couple of months ago ? Now i feel like i have just walked into Tombstone. Are you the guy who makes people disappear ?
-
er......? pray tell i suppose ?
-
yes well, its all very good but the services in this country are a complete joke and getting worse, overpopulated or not, Since boris took the reigns London is positively falling apart. You cannot get a tube at weekends now and it's been like that for a while.
-
You would have thought that " 8 British soldiers killed in 24hrs" would have been a huge story and a even larger headline ? BBC Website currently leads with ...................." Troops fighting for UK's future" !!!!!!!! does anyone else find that slightly odd ?

http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/standard/article-23717998-details/BBC+Centre+designed+on+an+envelope+is+given+Grade+II+heritage+status/article.do A novel way to ensure that the BBC remain where they are. I wonder why they have just spent a living fortune kitting out the BBC Buildings on Oxford street then ? Maybe the executives need to be closer to the private members clubs of London's West End

Not sure where the open curtains bit somes from but i am hearing that very CHEAP plastic double glazed windows that were installed throughout the block recently went up way to easily. Apparently these windows have failed safety regulations in the past and several other councils in the UK won't fit them as they do not conform to safety regs. We will have to wait and see what the inquiry throws up.

Take a virtual tour of the new Harris Academy
Whynniard replied to Reg Smeeton's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
" What about a decent school for ED proper and the type of professional families who are now progressively dominating this area. ED seems to have 1) Academies (aren't these aimed at deprived areas?) and 2) Private / fee paying schools, but there appears to be little or no quality state schooling for those in the middle. Happy to be corrected." Er ......it is state schooling ? I am slightly lost for words , what do you mean 'professional families' ......? You'll be ducking eggs if you carry on like that ..... -

Wow it looks fantastic hopefully the standard of education and opportunities that are on offer for these childrens futures match the high quality of this wonderful new facility - well done to all involved, i think that you can all be very proud. I am sure the children of East Dulwich and the surrounding areas will really benefit -
Digital Britain Report - State Sponsored Media Service
Whynniard replied to AllforNun's topic in The Lounge
I notice today that the BBC have made a very public dressing down of it's 'suddenly' overpaid presenters ? maybe this report has already got out in the open as has been suggested ? Interesting that the managerial teams are only getting a pay freeze while they expect others to take a pay cut ! That's very MP esque of them. -
Update on 549 lordship lane (Concrete House)
Whynniard replied to bob's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
What happen to the stupid house this guy has built right behind it so close that i think it touches at points, will it be knocked down and demolished.....let's hope so? Hopefully it will be purchased at a price that reflects the current property slump ! -
I was told about a wonderful fish shop in Nunhead the other day, after getting directions from this forum i decided to pay it a visit. I came across and interesting story about a local community centre which is under the threat of closure. It is effectively being Squatted to stop it being taken away from the local community. Admirable i thought and made all the more poignant on the backdrop of the expenses scandal. Local projects like this suffer when there is clearly money out there in central government. Not sure how you can support the campaign but raising it's profile may help. Here's the link. http://www.nunheadcentre.blogspot.com/

here is the link to the online petition, worth signing especially as it's about time the mindset of the London and Central Government needs changing in relation to their treatment of major projects and infrastructure in South London. Pressure is the only way. http://www.gopetition.com/petitions/build-a-station-at-surrey-canal-road.html

Someone told me that there is a brilliant fish shop across Peckham Rye thats been around for a very long time, does anyone have an address ?
-
with the amount of money they are going to recieve from the Euro pot they will be more than able to raise/change their profile and increase their vote. They will get one into the houses of parliment before long. Instead of chucking eggs maybe our 'great' politician's should have the balls to debate with them head on.
-
well you said "I'd like to see the law get as heavy handed with knife carrying as they did with football violence." i thought you meant as in the police ! i suddenly had visions of them on horseback charging into teenagers with hoods ....cue riots !
-
er...........i think you should remove that post.
-
Minorities are often far more the victims of knife crime, are you suggesting that the police target these groups and go in hard ?
