  1. Why so personal? Possibly because the issue is constantly framed as black and white. Both Brexit and remain cover a whole spectrum of opinions, but a lot of the nuance in the debate seems to get lost in the name-calling. I think the internet has had an effect in encouraging the airing of more extreme views, but the papers have also been pretty divisive and maybe it?s inevitable given the referendum only had two options. I remember the Scottish were only given in or out options in their referendum, but the government ultimately offered a middle way (more devolution) to stop them leaving.
  2. My company has "directors" - basically slightly senior but nothing special. A few years ago one of them was arrested. This got us a lot of bad press coverage during the trial because the papers quoted his job title as if he was on our board. We have dozens and dozens of directors.
  3. You by Caroline Kepnes. A guy running a New York bookshop falls for a customer and goes to increasingly disturbing lengths to win her love - stalking, hacking her phone and email, murder. Though as he?s the narrator you?re still kind of on his side. A very twisted thriller - I really enjoyed it but probably not for everyone.
  4. Saw Oppenheimer at the Vaudeville last night. Good with the caveat that it?s three hours long including the interval ? would have been better if shorter.
  5. The Ruling Class with James McAvoy at Trafalgar Studios was fantastic, one of the best plays I've seen in ages. Some of the satire's a bit dated, but it's still really funny and an amazing performance from McAvoy. I think the whole run's sold out, but if you can find a way of getting tickets I'd recommend it.
  6. People talking during the quiet songs at gigs.
  7. Loving the new Augustines album at the moment. Their first album (recorded as We Are Augustines) is really awesome as well. https://www.youtube.com/user/weareaugustines
  8. The monastery on top of the mountain at Montserrat is worth a day trip. It's about an hour by train then cable car from the city - the views are spectacular. Football at the Nou Camp is a great experience. You can buy tickets on the FC Barcelona website - unless they're playing Real Madrid there's usually plenty available.
  9. Ex-Heroes by Peter Clines. Because it?s superheroes versus zombies. Very readable and surprisingly well written.
  10. 33 Animals who are extremely disappointed in you
  11. My Beloved Monster - Eels
  12. There Goes The Fear - Doves
  13. Knives Out - Radiohead
  14. Master of Puppets - Metallica
