Clinically I can’t fault them but they are super expensive- twice my insurer has refused to pay for meds prescribed because of the mark up exceeding 120%. I now get all my pet’s meds online but they charge £17 per prescription item and won’t prescribe for longer than 2 months (even though it’s a long term condition).

another vote for Dave. Extremely pleased with the brilliant results and top class finish that he managed when redecorating my hall, landing, stairs and living room. He's a real attention to detail man and managed to transform some pretty bad doors and ceilings. Dave is skilled, reliable, clean and tidy, very friendly and does a great job for a fair price. Already booked in for more work! Highly recommended.

East Dulwich Hotel - any info on what's happening?
Jo31 replied to Jo31's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
The previous owner of the East Dulwich hotel put in an application for a 3rd story in around 2007. This was objected to by neighbours opposite and adjacent and Southwark turned down the application. The owner appealed to the Planning Commissioner who upheld Southwark's decision so the extra story never went up. More recently (last year?) an application was made by the owner of another property a few doors down on the same terrace for a 3rd story extension and this was rejected. Hopefully these decisions will bode well for the 3rd story plan being rejected again - I'm in support of any improvement to the existing properties but in keeping with neighbouring properties. -

The East Dulwich Hotel on Upland Rd has had a SOLD board up for months now but still appears to have tenants living there. Does anyone know if it has been sold and if so, the plans for it? -

34th camberwell beavers meet on Monday nights at The Rye Tenants Hall opposite Peckham Rye, The 'colony' leader is Carolyn Ellery. 020 77322075. It's a nice mix of kids and my son loves it. -
Is anyone else other than in Upland/Hindman's Road affected?
-
gawd. - this happened to me in Peckham Rye Park near the cafe two weekends ago - chap iced up a wedding ring and showed it to me. My response was 'someone's going to be really upset' and walked on ........

Great idea. Second only to closing the road. It's a road through a park - kids, dogs, walkers, joggers, cyclists and speeding cars don't mix.

How to describe the shock of the first 3 months...
Jo31 replied to bee74's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I remember being so sleep deprived that I used to walk into doors and couldn't remember my date of birth or phone number! I think the best thing is to have a good old fashioned 'confinement' stay in your pyjamas, eat cake and don't go out for 3 months. Second time round expectations are much more realistic and you know it doesn't last forever. -
I did both NCT and Kings ante natal classes. The Kings course was to the point, told me what I needed to know and very much reflected the experience I had - started off naturally with all my wishes being taken into account (by the way their breast feeding course was excellent). The midwife who taught the Kings course was very experienced and took a very pragmatic approach. NCT - met a great bunch of people who I'm still in contact with but spent many sessions sniggering and suppressing giggles at some of the things that were said and the approach taken (and I wasn't alone - we still all laugh about it now). Socially it was great and has provided my son with some great friends and a fantastic local support network but in terms of giving birth, I found the King's course fine. To get the friendship and support you can always join a local NCT tea group after you have had your baby. Good luck!

Nanny share rates - how much do you pay?
Jo31 replied to chantelle's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Our nanny charges ?90 a day (10 hour day). We're two families in a share and split the daily rate 50/50. She is registered self employed so takes care of her own tax and NI. And she's OFSTED registered so can accept child vouchers (a huge saving if you are a 40% tax payer).
