  1. Free for collection, Forest Hill.
  2. AI tells you what it has 'learned' from various sources, doesn't mean it's correct or true. Increased capacity can also mean that for any individual vehicle, the route is slower and best avoided
  3. The No Right Turn from A205 South Circular into Wood Vale has, I believe had a huge impact on other roads locally. I understand that the decision was taken in order to 'Keep London Moving' (TFL's old motto). There are very few options for turning right off the South Circular especially from Catford to Dulwich. Devonshire Road (Forest Hill) was heavily impacted by the Wood Vale decision, and I think has been further impacted by the Dulwich LTN. On the whole Southwark does a great job nudging traffic into neighbouring Lewisham which seems oblivious. TFL hasn't helped us by reducing speed on the A205 to 20 MPH, which removes any incentive there was to stay on the main road.
  4. I appealed against a fine issued by Southwark, and won. The adjudicator was businesslike, but also mentioned that several cases had come to him caught out by the same confusing signage. Is there any other parking that could reasonably have been used? Does the shop advise where to park? It sounds as though the time in the bay was a reasonable use. Even if you lose, I doubt that Southwark can increase the original charge. If you are going to appeal, don't delay. Take pictures of the scene if you think that might help, also provide the weight of the goods if that supports your case.
  5. It's the worst GP Practice I have ever experienced. Impossible to get an appointment except on the day by phoning at 08:00 and waiting a very long time with no guarantee of success. Even if you manage to get an appointment, it will likely be a 'callback' not an in-person appointment. If you do finally get an in-person appointment it will likely not be with a doctor and probably not at the practice itself. Incomprehensible 'service'. There are long-term health issues I would like to discuss with a doctor, but I don't think it's going to happen. If I'm very ill I'll ring NHS-111 and they somehow find an appointment at Tessa Jowell centre, but it's with someone who isn't a GP and doesn't know me.
  6. OK so if traffic is displaced into nearby Borough of Lewisham, then it is measured by Southwark as traffic reduction. Very clever. Southwark has become expert at dumping traffic into Lewisham - especially around Forest Hill.
  7. Apologies if this has been covered elsewhere, but please can you tell me how this is measured - the 'overall reduction' in traffic? How wide is the potential grid that is measured for possible displaced traffic? Let me put it another way - if someone used to drive through Dulwich to get to the South Circular and onwards to Catford and the M2, but they now use Old Kent Road, New Cross and Blackheath route, will the data count them as 'displaced' traffic?
  8. Should political representation be concentrated in families? Ellie and John are both MP's as is Ellie's sister Rachel. Both of John's parents were MP's. Very cosy. I Imagine Ellie couldn't care less about public transport as she uses the car park at work. I have previously written to Ellie but there was zero response.
  9. It's brilliant that that you had a brilliant experience and that TFL is brilliant. If it's all so brilliant, why did you need to write to our brilliant MP? Has she agreed to do anything about anything?
  10. Even when the trains are supposed to be running .......... yesterday Sunday 10th Nov, two consecutive London Bridge trains were cancelled - 18:44 and 19:14. Twice an hour is barely a service anyway, but then having to wait more than an hour! What are we supposed to do? Going out into central London has become less appealing over the past couple of years because of unreliable transport across London.
  11. Lots of useful info here http://www.hacaneast.org.uk/home and here https://hacan.org.uk
  12. I sympathise. Most likely the bike doesn't have the appropriate muffler, and an offence is being committed. As far as I understand, however, the police don't deal with crime (of this kind) these days.
  13. Are you sure that they are Heathrow planes? The area also suffers incoming aircraft to City Airport. On some days there are both. The noise is real and measurable - the problem is that there are no standards and therefore no enforcement.
  14. Bora has my sympathies - it's hard running a business where your goods are extremely perishable. But they should be able to do better with the problem of how to charge accurately when they have so many varieties e.g. 15 kinds of tomato. Ideally the receipt would show better info e.g. 'Dutch Beef @ £3.95 kg. 0.45 kg = £1.78 It would also help if you could see the price/weight calculations 'live' at the point of sale, so you could immediately query anything that looks wrong e.g. is the price calculation being made on an incorrect basis - some tomatoes are £3.95 kg whereas some are £8.95 kg, so it make a difference.
  15. Yes, understood, she has a very safe seat. But why is there nothing from Greens or Lib Dems? Have they given up before even starting - then why bother even offering candidatea?
  16. I can't vote for Reeves. I've written to her a couple of times and got unsatisfactory responses. She seems to be a party line box ticker. I'll probably vote Green or Lib Dem, but it would be good to see some campaigning from them, or at least some campaign material from any of them.
  17. I am registered at a different practice which I moved to three years ago following a steep deterioration in service at my former GP surgery. The new practice is even worse - it seems that everything has changed from around three to four years ago, and we no longer have a functioning GP Service. So many disturbing aspects to the situation e.g. having to share personal info with 'health care assistants' and administrators who are effectively gate-keepers for the doctors. One way I managed to get a GP to talk to me was by calling NHS Direct who called my GP surgery and they did call me back within 24 hours. What a waste of time! There was an article in the Evening Standard about people queueing in Brockley from 7 AM and even then not getting appointments. https://www.standard.co.uk/news/health/hilly-fields-gp-london-nhs-patients-queue-appointments-b1150599.html
  18. If your TV signal isn't good, then Freesat is a good alternative to Freeview. I believe Freesat also has a few extra channels. I want to try Freesat but I'm not sure whether the dish is working - if anyone has a redundant Freesat box, please message me.
  19. This site is an ideal site for the South Circular to be tunnelled - through Forest Hill rather than over it.
  20. Fairlawn Primary School (Honor Oak Road) is towards Forest Hill rather than East Dulwich, but is well-loved by local parents and kids.
  21. It's certainly a part of life, as is consideration.
  22. To add to problems, the opening hours of Sorting Offices has been greatly reduced. It's now a pathetic two hours each day, 08.00 - 10.00 Christmas will be interesting.
  23. Incredibly loud event still going on at 05.00 Sunday - have to wonder how many households, how many people, have been disturbed by this. This is in the Borough of Lewisham which - unlike most Boroughs - has no out-of-hours noise enforcement.
  24. Firstly I don't agree that there are lots of 'whingy threads' on ED Forum. There are lots of things in the world going wrong and it's positive to discuss it. Coming back to Road User Standards, there's plenty to complain about - especially lack of enforcement regarding frequent speeding, illegal use of car horns, ridiculously loud music from vehicles, etc etc. One thing that happened to me this week - I was driving in East Dulwich on Monday. A person on a mountain bike sped past on the inside and bashed my wing mirror hard. He looked back but speeded up instead of stopping. I followed him, but he clearly didn't want to discuss what happened, so I couldn't follow without engaging in dangerous driving myself. Was it deliberate or an accident? Has this happened to anyone else lately? Hopefully not a new sport in the area.
