  1. not mine - all my sweets have been eaten by foxes. I'd get out quick though, most kids have been and gone
  2. they are bloody clever round my way...
  3. In terms of punters though I remember years ago, a friend who owns a shop on LL being told that a woman's unruly young children were simply 'expressing themselves' when asked if she could control them a little more. she told the mum, "well they're about to express themselves with a bottle of bleach, so perhaps you'd better take them out the shop". Works both ways
  4. Loved those sketches Dopamine1979 - nice... one ;)
  5. To any children who may have expected the 'scary sweets' from my note attached to the door, I spotted a foxy devouring them - sorry!!
  6. not seen anything funny yet - you'll be the first to know though, Louisa - oh yes you will!
  7. Louisa no need to salute me yet, bless you. I'm not in search of anything - just looking forward to a meal with 'good food'. Have you checked your shoulder lately? Enjoy your shared plate with Sue - I look forward to the lamb reviews :) Apologies for my misspelling of 'Spoons....My 'name' is not Tallulah. It's Tallulah71...
  8. The Bishop has been laissez fair for a while. Too much competition? Still happy for the coked-up builder brigade. The other one next door which sells beer and burgers I have found to be lovely, attentive and knowledgable. EDD? who even shops in there? Emperor's new clothes Everyone without exception on North Cross Rd is lovely House of Tippler - only had 1 cocktail but will def be back for more. Very welcoming and informative - good, fun people. The one we're not allowed to mention? Haven't been back there in years. Can do better at home, frankly. Franklins - both shop and restaurant - without doubt the best (I eat a lot...)
  9. Louisa I don't read the Guardian - only students do, generally. I prefer more grown-up news in whatever form. I do however like good food. I don't even go into Witherspoons at the airport...so if sticky carpets and Aunt Bessie tatties are your thing (oh no, you like Pret-a-manger) then no, I for one shan't be shouting you a bit a lamb - sorry. But I will be very happy to report back on my experience. To spare you from the hideousness of all the good food, and that.
  10. Agree with all sentiments above; expensive but, if it delivers what it promises as toasted (Franklins or the Palmerston) does and if it is somewhere you go for special occasions, then it won't break the bank. You can't expect top-quality well-cooked food at pub prices. They seem in keeping with all other quality restaurants in the area. Good luck to them - especially as it's off the beaten track.
  11. singalto - I know what the Patch is. And I'm looking forward to it being a good use of space since the cinema back in 2000 odd...Never liked it much as the Mag, and even less as the Magnolia. Used to go there when it had loud TV and even louder carpets too!
  12. Gosh - a ladybird. Imagine if one of the terrified lady(bird) killers were to come across a False Widow... However, I did notice loads on the pillars of the entrance to Nunhead Cemetery the other day. thought it might be the berries, but not seen anything like it! Not sure hoovering them up is the best plan though.
  13. I was there at 7am and again at 4pm - still so much to do but trees all still down. Massive job for them to do...Nunhead cemetery was understandably closed so would imagine workforce are stretched getting thing sorted
  14. looking forward to this! The outside looks good, and we've waited long enough for it to become finally a good use of space since the cinema round the back years ago.
  15. Agree with *Bob*; Partly because I find his posts really funny and partly, in this case at least, I think he and Peckham Rose are right. Just sayin'
  16. 16/20. Spent way too much time following the yellow IKEA arrows in my 20's. Never want to see posters of, or listen to, DM bands again :/
  17. should've plastered them with Kath Kidston prints - then no-one would be moaning...;)
  18. massive Bob Dylan fan. will follow this...
  19. Well said Lee....
  20. I will have a word...yes the building works was a nuisance, and the 'barking' backs onto my garden so I feel your pain. It has become my 2nd alarm clock now - after my immediate neighbours who let their dog out for a quick bark approx. 1 hour earlier.
  21. Unfortunately it hasn't stopped it; the dog barked all day yesterday until around 3pm. I do know the owner reasonably well and I know she may be struggling a little. I think he can get out of the dog flap, and not back in - or he doesn't want to go in! Will have another word though... I think she would be horrified to know people were publicly (ish) complaining as she does care a huge amount about her dog but equally it can be an annoyance if you work nights, or work from home.
  22. If it's the dog I think it is (closer to Overhill on Underhill) which was barking a lot in his garden early this morning, I have spoken to the owner and a neighbour is going to check on him. It's certainly a lot quieter now he has some company!
  23. I have to jump them at red about 3 times a week
  24. There should be more people like you First Mate...
