  1. I bet the 3 women don't think of it as sensationalism. What an ill-thought and insensitive post
  2. unlurked all you ever do is 'counterbalance' what the OP is saying of any topic. It's a bit boring, to be honest. Just say what you think - the purpose of a forum is not always to vent spleen or, 'counterbalance'. I agree that a cinema is generally speaking a place where we can all go, and not get tanked up, and bring a load of customers and jobs to the area. Having loved Cinema Paradiso years ago, a small 'proper' cinema would be amazing - for everyone. lighten up.
  3. If you're local to Dawson's Heights, it's good fun; lots of sparklers, families with kids, fantastic views including fireworks, no entry fee or 'piss poor food / service' and then home all in time for 'Hootenanny' with no bus ride! All for the cost of a bottle of Cava....
  4. Don't worry about unlurked - he or she doesn't agree with a co-operative of 'bakers' making cakes for deprived children either - why? because it adds to growing problems of obesity in children. Course it does.
  5. Sky thru Virgin? Now I'm totes confuscious
  6. when I rang they couldn't have been more helpful. One night without TV /broadband - not the end of the world...Plus Netflix is coming soon!
  7. shall I report unlurked, or will you? I've just begun baking so happy to do whatever you need! I don't have kids but am very happy making other kids happy... and my cakes don't taste half bad ;)
  8. DaveR :)
  9. Dulwich Fox: being really clever, helpful and funny since 2010
  10. In November? try on 24th Dec....
  11. I'm with Yuuna. like pig. a lot. Still looking forward to trying out The Patch properly without slagging it off!
  12. I don't drink beer but I reckon nye on a fiver for a pint is a bit much...I went and had cocktail at House of Tippler the other day and it wasn't much more than that, and full of flavour. And alcohol ;)
  13. My bro was born there in the 70's, and it is the best memory I'll ever have because the cleaner outside my mum's room was Irish, as is my family, and she went to me and my Dad, "do you want to go inside?"....Anyway, I was allowed to hold my new born bro before he was even washed off and that, when I was 6. I will take that with me always. That's my memory anyway...
  14. @spider69 - the best thing is don't engage with davidh, like what I did... @A Fish :)
  15. that's what I meant - i didn't explain myself well at all. The whole 'Trick or treat' thing whatever the name is, has its origin in the celtic history. EIther that or Radio 4 was wrong! When I was little, my mum was amazing - she used to let us all go out (and yes, we had to do a dance or recite a poem to get a 'treat'). When we got back we had apple bobbing, and jelly hands made from marigolds and all sorts. Lots of grown-ups dressed up, music, and a jolly good time. No throwing eggs or demanding sweets for nothing...
  16. nothing worse than otiose verbosity ad-nauseous - I mean adonirum. Plus you are arrogant, insulting and in most peoples' opinion, wrong.
  17. obviously your paltry IQ is below entry requirements for guardian, what does that even mean? Do you know what IQ stands for?
  18. Oh! So sorry davidh. I'm not a snooty tosser, actually. And my IQ is average. If by the mail (luv) you mean The Daily Mail, I'd rather eat my own toenails. Such eejits reading the Grauniad - who'd have thought it!
  19. Sorry for offending all Grauniad readers old and young alike - it was meant in jest just so I could get into a bit of argy bargy with Louisa. No harm intended - I don't read any newspapers apart from the fluffy section in the Torygraph every now and then. take the piss out of me as much you like! ;)
  20. Trick or treat is traditionally a celtic thing. And one would normally have had to do a 'trick' to get the treat...throwing eggs, or knocking on doors just to grab sweets is boring and tedious for everyone.
  21. speaking of halloween treats for Grown ups, I can't believe there's nothing on t' telly that scary tonight. Aside from CDWM, obviously.
  22. Well despite my note saying I have nervous dogs, and the offering of (more) sweets, they still are making barking noises outside...F***ing kids. Won't bother next year! :)
  23. off NXR? Do you mean on it? ....Oh, yes. Off North Cross Road...ha!
  24. can't believe someone is asking where to go - just do it! It's supposed to be a bit of fun! If you waste time listening to us lot, you'll have missed the point. And there are always hidden gems not always the obvious roads...
