Major Works by Thames Water in E Dulwich
nunhead_man replied to the-e-dealer's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Excellent- thanks for the update. Do you know if they were proposing to make repairs by digging up or by sleeveing the existing -i.e. putting plastic inside the old clay pipes? At least I assume they are glazed clay here? We now expect a call to look in our back garden. Although they may not know we have access? kiera Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- >................... new pipes will be made of > plastic, so will not crack and allow tree roots to > enter in future. Excellent - creating the new generation of cyclists - after a gap of at least one generation blinded by the myths of universal freedom createdby the car. jimbo1964 Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Sounds great. The blue paint on some roads is for the Cycle Super Highways - see here - http://www.tfl.gov.uk/roadusers/cycling/11901.aspx Boris chose blue for at least two obvious reasons. And those routes are generally badly implemented e.g. the cyclist deaths at Bow Roundabout. Most are just paint on the road some of which lead cyclists into danger. The more usual colour for cycle routes is green And on Peckham's Rye Lane we have two of the 50 shades of grey plus a few roundels with a cycle image posing as a cycle path. The real problem at the southern end of the Canal towpath route are the steps on the left as you head north - the ones that come down from Peckham Pulse - the ramp gives you speed and pedestrians coming down the steps are out of sight - you have to go down the ramp very carefully especially out of communiting hours in case someone is coming down the steps - small children are out of sight until they step out. Changing those steps to be open to the sight line for north moving cyclists would be a start.

Hi First decision re St Pauls is which bridge - Southwark Bridge is quieter to approach, cross and leave than either Blackfriars Bridge and London Bridge. Of course you could walk across the new footbridge from the Tate? And then where are you starting from? Really? I'll have to check tho' I'm sure you re correct And no there is nothing to warn motorists - I'm VERY careful as I make the left turn out of Spurling onto Crawthew Roll on proper signage! Only me! Remember you could put you bike on the train at rush hour times as you will be going against the commutter flow - and that gives you the option of trying to cycle all the way if the mood takes you or the trains are screwed up in some way

Spurling road contra flow cycle route
nunhead_man replied to nunhead_man's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Thanks all and I've had several near misses, that is why I posted Also after Southwark Council to put up proper signage -
As the Council have put in a cycle gap in Spurling Road and not marked up the route I thought I'd mention it here. If you are cycling or driving along East Dulwich Road toward the Goose Green roundabout be aware that a cyclist coming around the roundabout and signallintg left may be going into Sprurling Road (first exit on your left marked no entry for cars) and not second exit up Lordship Lane

Hmmmm - suspect there will be lots of movement just now as clay has been drying out not the least as the water table falls as a result of abstraction for drinking water etc But do get a surveyor from your buildings insurance company now - usually no charge and sooner rather than later is best. Let us know ho you get on?
