General question Barry. I bought a off-peak return which was labeled "Web Off-peak return" today to London Terminals from Forest Hill (which I understand has been taken over by LOROL) which the route had Southern only printed on the ticket which I haven't seen before. I continued my journey to Charing Cross as per usual by Southeastern. Am I liable for a penalty fare between LB and CX?

Trains from Nunhead to Blackfriars?
Bic Basher replied to The Nappy Lady's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
The Sevenoaks line services terminate at Kentish Town Thameslink while work is being carried out at Blackfriars. Some peak services are extended to Luton or Bedford. Blackfriars mainline station is still open, but the tube station is closed until work is completed. -
There used to be a Maccy's in Forest Hill which is now ironically a gym!

Warning bendy bus crash on Etherow St
Bic Basher replied to wonderwoman's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
When the contract is eventually renewed, they'll need at least double the amount of double deckers to meet the capacity of the existing bendies. So we'll end up with even more buses clogging up the bus stands in Friern Road, Etherow Street and LL. Forest Hill on the other hand has capacity to hold buses without causing inconvenience to residents. -
Surely they'll be restrictions on when Sainsburys can park their massive delivery lorries outside as the bus lane runs alongside the shops? Costcutter will need to up their game, the owner of the franchise in Kirkdale had to invest in new freezers/fridges when Tesco Express opened 10 yards down the road. The fear I have is that Badgers, the excellent Red Apple newsagent and the sub post office may suffer loss of trade.

Water mains Lordship Lane (Tues am)
Bic Basher replied to jumpinjourno's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Mscrawthew Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > That was going Sunday afternoon, Got caught in all > the traffic going up towards Hornimans! It was a combination of the burst water main and a Jerk Cookoff event at Horniman Gardens which caused the traffic problems on Sunday. -
I work on CX Road and find the 176 to be the cheapest and reasonably the best of a bad bunch, although it's rare in the mornings unless it's the summer holidays that you can ride the bus all the way to TSQ without getting off at the Aldwych or half way down the Strand and walking the rest of the way. If I'm late or desperate, I'll bus it to Forest Hill and get a train from there to LB and change at platform 6. Overall takes about 30 mins, where as a 176 can be between 40 mins to an hour.

Burglary warning - Lordship Lane Estate

Thanks, I'm dealing with it in my own way and will be returning to work tomorrow to prove that those people won't stop me from having a normal life. However, my Mum who lives with me took it really hard and is having a Victim Support Southwark counsellor visiting her tomorrow afternoon. I have to say the Peckham Police were excellent yesterday. -
Burglary warning - Lordship Lane Estate

sophiesofa Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Oh that is crap. The locksmith who came to change my door locks was a sub-contractor from Morrison who didn't wear council branded workwear. -
Burglary warning - Lordship Lane Estate

Don't know > why I came to that assumption though. That's basically what happened yes. They banged on the heavy wooden front door quite hard at 6.40am claiming to be council workmen on an emergency visit as people had been claiming there were leaks coming from the double glazing. Normally I wouldn't open the door at that time of the morning, they preyed on my vulnerability. -
Two men claiming to be council workmen banged on the doors and windows of my flat on the LL Estate at 6.40 and stole ?200, debit cards and house keys. Both are white. One is bald and skinny wearing a grey jacket, the other was younger with a beard and an Irish accent. Be on the lookout.

Poor TV reception in ED, is Freesat the answer?
Bic Basher replied to Jamma's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I use an indoor aerial and have direct line of sight of Crystal Palace, however ITV1/2/3/4, Channel 4/E4/More 4 are the first to go. -
Anyone else in ED got this strange bug?
Bic Basher replied to Sue's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I had it on Monday, same symptoms as others although I had no diarrhea , Tuesday was much better although I experienced cramps in the afternoon late evening and back to normal on Wednesday. -
I remember when the routemaster 12's used to run along Lordship Lane towards Elmers End. All changed in October 1988 when the 176 was extended to Penge. The 12A was a nightmare to ride, it was packed all the way to Peckham and down to Croydon. I was glad when they became double decker 312's, now 197. There was also a Saturday only bus service 185A which run to Lewisham and Elephant. Oh, talking about green 176's, I remember the green 78's as well which went to Forest Hill.

Apologies for missing louisiana's post about the LL/Friern Road accident.

How long did we have a Jobcentre in LL? I recall that our unemployed were made to sign on at the Peckham benefit office, then they opened the benefits office where Foxtons is now and the Jobcentre where William Hill and the estate agents are now.

I'm surprised this hasn't been mentioned already, there was a crash involving a convertible and a 12 Bendy Bus on Lordship Lane at the junction of Friern Road on Sunday afternoon.

It's not part of the "protocol". The supervising member of staff monitors all the self service tills from a monitor, so can see all the transactions, I'm sure they take extra attention to under 18's purchasing from the store. I use the self-service tills more since they upgraded the tills.

On the site where Somerfield is now, I remember it being called International or something along those lines?
